Belgium qualified to World Championships 2018 after beating Estonia 3-1 in the last round of games. Shockingly, Germany, bronze medalists of last edition, finished only 3rd in the last qualification tournament and won't play in Italy and Bulgaria

Well and decided to retire from NORCECA championships (main qualifier) due to lack of preparation or something like that, given recent hurricanes struking both islands.  So the confederation decided to give both teams another chance to qualify.

 

As for Mexico... well, let's say this generation is getting old and there's not enough talent nor good coaching that will help them achieve the level they during 2009-2012; just take a look at their results in last to editions of World League.

but the quality is...controversial to say the least

But  wow, Libia is fighting HARD against Cameroon to  secure a berth to semifinals
