Gabi retiring is very good news for german biathlon. Kuzmina, Daria, Kaisa and Dorin also should be gone pretty soon and then Laura should dominate even more.

As a non-german fan you have to hope that either Dahlmeier retires as well or that some new girl somehow manages to challenge her, otherwise this sport will become even more boring than on the mens side.

I love German biathletes, but it would still be more fun if Dahlmeier was challenged and honestly, if she'll have no one to challenge her, she will not stick around for too long. If Wierer regains the 2015/16 form, she might have a chance to keep up.

I don't remember, but an individual time penalty in the youth competition for a missed shot is 45 seconds?

Yes, pages 12 to 13:

Even as a german fan its kind of boring to watch her dominate everyone else, for the same reason most german people dont really care about nordic combined, bob or luge.

I think Preuß and the young french girls have the best chance to challenge her in the next couple of years. If Carl decides to change to biathlon, things could also get pretty interesting. Maybe some of the swedish girls will also get there.

It seems that our guys got overwhelmed by the atmosphere of the competition. Usually they miss from 0-1 targets, sometimes 2 on a stop at the range. Now it seems like 2 or 3 is the norm today and that is quite disappointing. Hopefully they'll pull it together before the sprint.

Not many people left to challenge Dahlmeier, though I think she's going to have a short career just like Neuner

That's pretty much what she has been hinting to for a long time already, which is why most people sort of expect her to retire after Pyeongchang if she has a succesful Olympic campaign there :p

So you are ok with that, despite Dahlmeier being your favourite athlete... :p
