Good start for us with 3 total medals so far. 

 

Angel Rusev took his 6th straight European title.   With this he equals Yoto Yotov and passed a bunch of other Bulgarian legends who have 5.  Above him are Nikolay Peshalov with 8th and Naim Süleymanoğlu with 7th (there could be others with such records, but i don't have the full statistics).

 

A shame that Rusev's overall level isn't on par on a worldwide scale, but we all know that Europe has practically taken a backseat in weightlifting the past 20 years, with the exception of a few individuals.

interesting competition in the men's -88kg 

 

we can already say that Kianoush Rostami's switch to didnt go that well, as he bombed out in the Snatch (2 missed lifts at 167kg and 1 at 170 🤦)

meanwhile Andranik Karapwtyan's new Home Country can already enjoy a silver medal in the Snatch

 

Marin Robu however dominated the 1st phase with a new ER at 173kg

 

let's see now what happens in the C&J 🤔 (looking at the opening weights I fear that there will be a lot of misses, trying adventurous start weights)

as expected, the C&J was quite a missed lifts fest

 

however, Marin Robu was 2nd in this competition with 200kg, but won the gold medal in the Olympic Total with 373kg

 

local hero  Zurab Mshkhaladze got the gold medal in the C&J and the silver in the Olympic Total, with Andranik Karapetyan saving the Total bronze despite a modest effort in the 2nd phase

 

C&J bronze went to Cristiano Ficco ❤️ finally fit after a few years full of injuries (the Italian was also 4th in the OT, just 3kg shy of bronze and he was the only man with 6 good lifts Today)

The young Finnish woman showed today that it's possible to beat the former USSR and Turkey in this sport, so why can't we train someone like her? Our all squad isn't making any progress for a lot od time, so how do they train? Massidda is getting weaker ane weaker and Pizzolato won't be back- he faces 10 years for rape. It's a disgrace.
