Ski Jumping FIS World Cup 2025 - 2026

Cancelling a round in Kuusamo.. so what else is new :coffee:  Zografski with a 4th and a new PB, but it's a real bummer that he doesn't have the chance to jump for a podium. This jury has really become quite pathetic the last few years.

Maciusiak is sure making a case to be a complete lampoon. Nobody expected miracles but he totally broke Wąsek so far. Vets are one year older and now even struggle to make it thru qualifying (Kubacki, Żyła in Ruka).

Not much jumping going on in Ruka.  The Nordic Combined race yesterday used the test round results & today's jump was cancelled altogether.  Ski Jumping yesterday was one round & today was also cancelled.

Great to see the Poles coming out again for their Wisla round.  The atmosphere is on hand as usual.

With all due respect to Norway, Finland and Sweden who have invented these sports, but in the last couple of years it's painful to watch the starts in Scandinavia with 30 people in the stands.. It is always a shock how barely anybody goes out to watch a WC round in a historical sport for that nation. Same goes for the cross-country, Nordic combined races we had. Only biathlon managed to pull a nice crowd in Ostersund.

    • Because unfortunately emotions don't count in actually giving the quotas     Italy could have had two more quotas, if they had performed better and were placed higher on the ranking. I'd love to see these guys there, but don't think host quotas should be used for that.
    • We have 5 people in the men's category and 20 years ago we had 10... However, we haven't used up some quotas in freestyle skiing because we don't have any athletes there, so why can't we transfer them to cross-country skiing so that two local boys (Mocellini, Dapra) who grew up near the route in Val di Fiemme can start there?
    • The host quotas are not to ensure the host nation has the biggest possible team, they're to ensure they are represented in all sports. Italy doesn't get host quota in for example cross-country skiing, because they don't need them, they already qualify through the usual way.
    • That's how it should be, because we, as the host country, simply don't get anything out of it- apart from the qualifications in hockey, we'd have 99% of the same squad in other disciplines if the Olympics were held elsewhere. I'm truly sad that we can't find the two or three missing quotas in men's cross-country skiing, because the FIS and IOC are ruthless. But I'm sure that if the Olympics were in Sochi now, they wouldn't refuse Putin- for a suitable monetary compensation, of course
    • Apart hockey I´ll watch HBOMax though, I can´t suffer some nowadays RTVS commentators
    • The same for double starters? For example Ledecka in snowboard PGS and skiing (SG)?
    • Somewhat annoyingly there's some comments on some social media about how the Brazilian ranking favored those who are good in sprints (i.e. Bruna), over those who are good at distance races, and so the ranking 'was unfair'. Sigh. To be clear: the internal ranking consisted of three (3) classic sprints and also three (3) freestyle distance races within the qualifying period. Average of those 6 results decided. Not a weighted average or anything, simply an outright average.   In case more than one athlete reached the A criteria, there would be a ranking that does in fact favor a discipline - distance. That ranking would consist of 2 classic sprints, 2 freestyle distance races and 2 'wildcards' which would be any discipline. Considering the number of points in distance races is nearly always lower, that would favor whoever is better in distance races. And that makes sense, because with A criteria, one would actually do 3 distance races and 2 sprints. However, with no A criteria, one will do 2 sprints and 1 distance race at the Olympics. So even though the ranking that decided things now did not in fact favor sprints, it would not even be bad if it did, since there will be more sprints than distance races.   I guess it's disappointed talking for people who had hoped to see someone else qualify and don't really know how the qualifying system works in reality. That's fine, although I'd generally try to be more respectful.
    • Definitely, it's poorly organized. It's almost as if FIS, just threw everything together. Might as well call it "non-traditional skiing"
    • Broadcasting in Slovakia:   The public broadcaster RTVS holds the rights to show the Olympic Games in the country.   As in previous years, viewers can expect 24-hour coverage on RTVS Šport, a dedicated sports channel. A wide range of events across all sports will be broadcast, with special attention given to those featuring Slovak athletes, particularly those with the highest chances of success. Additional content will also be available via online streaming, accessible only within Slovak territory.
