To those who know more about CC Skiing: Back in Post 2, I'm only compiling results from disciplines that will be in the Olympics (to preview perhaps the podiums there).  However, I note that for each event, there are 'classic' and 'freestyle'.  This past weekend in Ruka, they skiied the 10km interval start Classic; however, in Milano Cortina, it will be the 10km interval start Free.  Would there be a benefit to tracking the disciplines that won't be contested?  (i.e. Do different skiiers excel in one vs. the other?)

Also, of note, only once will the 50km skiathlon be contested before MiCo.

Yes, difference between classic and freestyle is crucial for some athletes. Ivo Niskanen :FIN is a good example of the master of classic.

Is there a chance that Italy will get a 6 men's spot thanks to relocation? This spot would be very useful for the relay race: as of today, we have probably: Carollo, Barp, Graz, Pellegrino and probably 1 sprinter in the classic: Mocellini. We're missing a 5 man for relay competition on ev. reserve places, like de Fabiani.

Sunday's performance by the Italian men's team was a big positive surprise – there's some hope, as they're young guys. The women's team is currently performing much worse, especially young Gismondi, who was supposed to make significant progress this season- for my she is a big disappointing for now. However, the best we can hope for in the women's team is a top-8 finish in the team sprint and relay – medals are out of reach. The men's team sprint and relay have a small chance of a medal, assuming Pellegrino good form and Italy secures a spot among the top teams before the final change in relay.

According to FIS right now one more female quota is closer than male one.

CAS obliged FIS to allow compete Russian athletes as AIN in Olympic qualifiying events and as RUS (with flag and full rights) in paralympics events (because RPC have full rights)

In this way, Russians has chance to qualify in OWG and PWG 2026

Even if we ignore the political background, the war and past doping scandals, have these athletes really been tested under the same conditions as other athletes?

I think no. I even don't know was someone in international antidoping pool or not. In decision CAS obligate to compete only that athletes who eligibility to IOC criterias for AIN. Antidoping is one of that criteria. If someone was in international pool this is one case but if wasn't - absolutely another.

But I think Elias and Co will make everything to allow Russians to participate because ban was continued against his opinion.

The only thing I hope that it will be too much even for him to allow compete athletes like Bolshunov, Stepanova and many others who is supporting the war

Could see some European countries withdrawing in protest.

This descision means that we may see russian flag and anthem at the Paralympics.

So right now it means Ukraine will miss Paralympic Games completely (as well as Latvia, I suppose).

And the Olympics cancelled, yada yada yada, but not gonna happen. Personally it would not at all be bad for me/us, since a bunch of European countries withdrawing would rather strongly increase the chance of Brazil getting a 3rd ticket
