The athletes completed their first two training sessions today.

 

 Nicole Silveira finished 9th and 10th with times not too far from the first-place finisher.

Very good; if she maintains this pace, she can dream of a top 8 finish, and who knows, if some of the favorites make mistakes, maybe even a medal.

I don’t think you can read too much into training runs, not unless you either really really struggle or stand out as a lesser known athlete

 

Silveira is still very much in the medal mix, it’ll be tough for sure but I’ll definitely be hoping she can win a medal

I'm prepared for this trap ; in Beijing, Nicole had some top 6 finishes in practice, but ended the competition in 13th place.

 

But I think she's at least adapting well to the track; she had some difficulties with it at the World Cup. Let's see how she evolves in the next ones.

Heraskevych was 3rd today in the 2nd training hear.

 He trained on Monday at the Milano Cortina Games in a helmet with images of Ukrainian athletes killed during the russian agression against Ukraine.

It is not clear right now if he will be allowed to use the helmet during the competittions due to the IOC.

He is ready to go to the CAS if the IOC will ban the helmet.
