Unfortunately, a medal was out of their reach, but they've already had much better seasons in 2023 and 2024. If France hadn't returned this season with a naturalized Canadian at the last minute, we would have had that bronze medal today :( It was clear that if France returned, they must to win a medal, because that was the goal and they'd probably win gold in four years. I remember that our pair: Fusar-Poli/Margaglio also returned specifically in 2006 to the home games after four years, but we didn't win a medal there, because we clearly didn't have the same level of confidence as the French now.

I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure Fournier Beaudry and especially Cizeron are way better than Fusar Poli/Margaglio, as good as they were.

So imagine my astonishment when I entered this topic and found out that the general consensus is I had just witnessed a robbery :d

It is the general consensus, except for some Northern American. They only cheer for the Olympic spirit when they’re winning.

Honestly my main criticism of both CBC and NBC is that they’ve not covered why people dislike FB/C at all. They may vaguely allude to it at best. I guess both have a vested interest in not rocking the boat too much re: I. AM.

American media is far from perfect, but it’s certainly disappointing that they’ve swept it under the rug (at least the outlets carrying the Olympics). I don’t keep up with French media as much as I should but I’m assuming they have been pretty silent on this given past precedent with how the French media prefers to look the other way at things of that nature.

This is totally wrong. Papadakis's book caused a huge storm in France because they were beloved as a duo, always shown as full of love, until then.
But releasing a book just 3 weeks (!) before the Olympics and slamming him out of nowhere really made people think she was only trying to tear him down.

Cizeron indirectly replied her in L'Equipe (#1 newspaper), explaining he'd spent months in "couple therapy" to get her back on the team since she was totally depressed.

He tried to help her as much as possible, saw her as a sister, and was deeply hurt by it all. She never denied any of it after that.
French people have plenty of flaws, but we're not afraid to air dirty laundry about anyone.

Maurizio was great in 2001/2002, much better than our current pair. In 2006, one of them was much worse, although I think we were in first place after the compulsory dance:

I don't have a dog in the fight... but do enjoy the colossal irony of C/B being outraged by a team having obvious errors, yet still being given gold anyway.

C/B got that treatment, not once, but TWICE, at Worlds... and I think was even given a world record score at least one of them
