Fencing FIE World Championships 2025

The problem is that we're no longer winning gold medals and we don't have successors to the great champions of yesteryear. Only Favaretto can be excused, as she recently suffered injuries. Errigo has her best years behind her. Don't make me celebrate a few bronze medals in our favourite army...

I get it, but it has nothing to do with Cristino, who could not win a gold with Kiefer and she has a tough draw with 2/3 Olympic medalists. I'm much more worried about Italian sabre than foil, it degradated rapidly

Women's sabre we never have been particularly strong – perhaps at the very beginning: begining of 2000 years we were strong as a team, but later we lost it. The men also miss some great individual, but even the solid Samele managed to win two individual bronze medals at two consecutive World Championships. However, if he were a great champion, there should have been at least one gold. The overall problem is that the competition in this sport is constantly growing: Iran, Egypt, Tunisia? After all, 20 years ago, they didn't matter at all.

Quite a scandal at the medal ceremony

After Vlada refused to take a photo with borodachev (how the fuck he is allowed to compete with his military connections) Katrina Lehis made an annoying face at that.

I don't like Katrina even more now, and considering that Nelli Differt signed the letter from Ukrainian federation, I hope Estonia failed to qualify in team and Nelli will again participate at the Olympics

That's odd, because Estonia has always had a difficult relationship with Russia (probably every country that borders them has difficult relations and conflicts with them, even China once). Unless she is a Russian minority, which I assume exists there?

Yes, there are even towns like Narva where most of the population are connected with Russia, however, Lehis doesn't even speak Russian, so I don't understand what's so hard to understand for her in that situation

Why? I think Cristino's bronze is a great result, considering she was losing to Poloziuk all match + she beated Harvey, who is on her top form of the career this season. The only disapointing result should be Errigo's

Cristino's bronze is a good result only because it's her first world championship and her first season at the top level, but she can heavily regret because of how she lost against Ranvier and because she lost against such a weaker fencer like the French woman (seeing her in the GMM for the second time in her career is the death of fencing, she's one of the weakest medallists ever)

ps Harvey is another fencer who's normally overestimated because she won medals nobody really expected from her

the fact that she struggled in the early rounds means nothing, most likely she was really nervous because this was her first experience in such kind of competition (and maybe she also undersetimated a bit Polozniuk)

Batini is a shame of a fencer...she was 10-3 ahead against Kiefer after 3 minutes of played and yet she managed to lose without even trying to fight in the last hits

Errigo...no comment, she always finds a way to disappoint her fans when it really matters

finally, Favaretto dominated the season, easily beat Kiefer twice in their last couple of head to head in the world cup events and then she fails just when we get to season climax (home Europeans, not participating for an alleged injury, when she could have started and win a couple of rounds and win the world cup instead of leaving it on Kiefer's dish and these world champs, when she never fenced at her best)

so, to me the glass is at least 75% empty...I just can't be satidfied with these results

let's see if they can at least win the team event, but it would just be a small payback, the bare minimum
