Swimming at the Aquatics AQUA World Championships 2025

Don't fixate on gold so much. If a country wins a shit ton of medals, even without gold, their swimming is going absolutely fine.

Yes, but there should be at least one gold. And it's a shame about the open water, because after six silver medals there, I had a bad feeling. In the 50-meter swimming, it was clear that gold would be very difficult and only Ceccon had a real chance. The rest of our swimmers have to compete against almost impossible-to-beat dominants like Ledecka, where silver is as good as gold.

Meaning the team is doing a great job overall.

:USA USA failed to make the mixed medley relay final :yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes:

US coaches messed up badly putting Huske on the fly leg instead of Walsh, she only split a 58.4 :p

I understand it sucks to get 20+ medals and not a single gold naturally, but the state of the sport is fine like that. I would be happy with 5 medals. However, I see people complaining here when we only have a single medal, which I can't understand. This relay medal was definitely not expected and we just had a single event in which a medal was a possibility (100 breaststroke), not counting Water Polo.

Complaining about luck in swimming feels a bit superfluous to me though, yeah, if a swimmer swims the WR every time, they won't be beaten until someone else swims the WR. But that's not how it works. The only time I would say someone can be considered 'lucky' is if they win with a slower time than another swimmer that won the semi.

So far, we have 15 medals, half of which are in non-Olympic events: diving, artistic swimming and 4 medals in the Open Water Swim. After including all the sprints for Olympic program, we'll have a total of 8-9 medals in Olympic events, with no gold. For me, that's a failure, plus the miss of any gold in the remaining events. Never in the history of the World Swimming Championships has someone won 10 or more medals and not a single gold. We're going for a record :(

Oh, by the way, the overall lack of excitement in this final took a bit of my attention from that, but yeah, that's the 3rd fastest time ever and indeed the fastest ever in non-supersuits
