as many of you might have already read/watched, the 2025 MLB season has just started with 2 games "on the road" in :JPN Tokyo

on Tuesday and Wednesday, the reigning champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs faced each other twice

of course both teams have been chosen for this "entrèe" because they're filled with Japanese stars like Shoei Ohtani, Roki Sasaki, Yoshinobu Yamamoto (Dodgers) and Shota Imanaga & Seiya Suzuki (Cubs)

and the Japanese audience did really appreciate the effort, because the Tokyo Dome was filled up to the last seat (despite the ticket prizes were crazy, from 1,500 up to 20,000 US $ :yikes:) and the TV ratings were amazing (25 million viewers in :JPN only on Tuesday, higher than any MLB broadcast in the USA since game #7 of the 2017 World Series between the Dodgers and the Houston Cheaters, ops, I mean, Astros :bones:, all this, given that Japan has about 1/3 of the US population)

the official Opening Day, however, is set for next Thursday, March 27th, when 28 of the 30 teams will be on stage (Colorado Rockies and Tampa Bay Rays are the only exception, they will start their campaign on the following day)

p.s oh, just for the books, the Dodgers won both matches in Tokyo :cheer: :p

I didn't watch as many MLB games this season but Blue Jays turning into a powerhouse only months after they could have blown this roster up is quite a story.

I don't think Yankees gave up 10+ runs in back-to-back games in the postseason that often?

A big reason for the change is that they changed hitting coaches this off-season. This year, the Blue Jays hitters have noticeably been more disciplined at the plate and have made more contact and put the ball in play more often. It's probably played a part in a lot of guys have also been having career years including 36 year old George Springer.

Well the score was a lot closer than I would've liked in the end but this home run will be living rent free inside of me for the next few months.

it was Dave Roberts-alike pitching management by Schneider...taking off the mound your starter while still throwing a no hitter 🥳😈🤦:p

Isn't 'making contact' the phased out part of the game in the analytics world these days? :p Padres got Arraez and it ended for them as usual, or even worse given they got bounced in the wild card round.

Usually I would agree (especially if it was a close game) but I think it was the right call here.

1. This was only his 4th start of the year and he was already at 78 pitches when he was pulled. He wasn't going to last the full game.

2. As mentioned above, it was already a blowout at the time. It's the bullpens fault for somewhat allowing the Yankees to come back in the game.

3. If necessary, he can pitch in Game 5
