Men's Volleyball FIVB World Championship 2025

Recommended Posts

On contrary to popular belief and comments here, Italia makes another World's final. I thought they had their worst team ever :d And they are the favorites in the final as well, so we'll see what happens :bounce:

For us, today was probably our worst match at this tournament and it was so refreshing to see the team use mental strength to push for the win. Something you would expect from a way more experienced team. Whatever happens tomorrow, they are already champions for people here, but these boys deserve to call themselves World champions 🙏

We had worse teams even in XXI century: 2008, 2012, 2021, etc. In the period of 2015-2021, everything depended on Zaitsev and Juantorena: that was the Blengini era and it's great that he's now make a success in Bulgaria. Everyone is happy: Italy and Bulgaria :)

Will the ranking points obtained here be counted to the LA-28 qualification?

He has a good day today. But it is not level fot Sasak. Kurek was injured, as Fornal:(  We should have Bednorz in team. What is more terrible day for Sasak, Leon and Semeniuk... what a shame. Terrible attack.

Italy's women's team faced a similar situation: Degradi was missing before tournament and Orro and Fahr were injured during the 1/2 final against Brazil, but we still won gold. Maybe this is a results, that Velasco is a much better coach than Grbic. For me Velasco currently outperforms every other coach by about two levels: Blengini and de Giorgi, too.

Ranking points follow something similar to the Elo system in chess so technically yes, but not too much given the amount of time and matches still to be played.

Go :BUL for gold. what a shame for Polish lost with really weak Italy today in this shape. Terrible day.

You have to beat the Czech Republic tomorrow and appreciate what you have- good bronze medal. I remember that 20-30 years ago in Poland, anyone would have killed for a World Championship bronze medal. Don't insult your opponents, who were clearly better than you today. So much for me.

I see Velasco a bit like Ancelotti in football, not amazing tactical knowledge of modern game but great group manager for big name players.

Authority, knowledge, class + a great team of people around him (Barbolini, a doctor, even a physiotherapist- woman, in last year there was also Bernardi in our staff, but he left).

It's ridiculous Poland is still so reliant on Bartosz Kurek who turned 37yo last month. What's the point of Nations League where you can test the backups? This is a far cry from Stephane Antiga who famously left Kurek out of the squad due to 'poor form' and we still won gold in 2014.

I remember he from the 2009 European Championships, when he made his debut at a major event. Poland's next problem will be when Leon retires, which I believe will happen no later than 2028, after the Olympics. I don't see any successors at the moment. Btw., Poland won the VNL with Sasak on OP, so I don't understand why Kurek was called up again if the system worked good in this season?
