1996 Olympic men's  volleyball final was the greatest in history

2012: Rus-Bra? Muserski was doping in that time, so I don't know why Brazil didn't get the gold medal after all these years? Does anyone know anything?

Sure, he is. He not really like volleyball but yeah, he is quite happy for his czech brothers :p

Why do you prefer hockey to volleyball? For me hockey it`s OK, but the hockey puck is hard to see in tv. Do you think that if Slovakia were a football powerhouse, it would be more popular there than ice hockey?

Hockey, in my opinion, is too elitist to be a mass sport: you need a ice rink, equipment, a stick, a puck, etc. The Southern Hemisphere (Africa, Souyh America, Australia) has no interest in this sport at all, unlike football or even tennis. In theory, more countries seriously play volleyball than ice hockey? Does anyone know the statistics on this?

My thoughts exactly

The physicality, the hits, the fights, the speed of the game, I love everything about it.

Ok, but for example, ask someone from Brazil what they know about hockey... The same goes for Iran, Egypt, Argentina etc., and everyone knows football...

Because it wasn't the London 2012 tests that condemned them, but the 2013 Russian League tests. From what I understood, that was it.

me, too

moreover, it's one of the few sports that is best viewed at the arena than on tv (ok, I'm talking of the small/mid-sized European arenas, I fear that being in the cheaper seats in the big North American arenas the view and the chance to hear the sounds of the game are not so comfortable)

tbh, who cares if it's elitist or not?

I love the show and it doesn't matter if the game is played at the highest level only in a few Countries

same for baseball...I love the game for what it is and I'm perfectly ok with the fact that there are only 4/5 leagues in the world that's worth watching

obviously there are many more places where volleyball, basketball and other sports are played professionally than hockey, but, again, this is not a good reason for me to prefer the mainstream action rather than niche's

    • Canoe Sprint There is a now a cap of 5 athletes per gender in the kayak events (down from 6 in 2024). The World Championships has been replaced by the Olympic Qualification Rankings.   K2 lost 2 boat quotas while K4 has gained 1 boat quota. Quota distribution is quite complicated as it usually is for canoe sprint. They also force nations to compete in a minimum number of events based on the number of athletes qualified; 2 and 3 athletes per boat class must compete in 2 events, 4 must compete in all 3 events and 5 must compete in all 3 events and have two entries in the K1 event.
    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA
    • and Artistic Gymnastics is "Sporting Gymnastics" while Rythmic Gymnastics is god know why "Modern Gymnastics"
