Ski Jumping Discussion | Qualification to Winter Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026

So :SUI drops a quota that was given so that they could compete in the team competition. Kind of too bad but at least it went to a country that would have got it through D.5.

Still waiting for the official confirmation from our NOC.

In the darkest backgrounds of the Slovak federation there something I just found. It appears we are trying to make a fishy move :D

Apparently since the quota is for the country, we are trying a way to send both female we have, but not at the same time lol.

Kira Mária Kapustíková for the Normal Hill and after her competition over, she may be replaced in our team by Tamara Mesíková who may compete in the Large Hill.

Now, the question what will be the answer from FIS and IOC for that idea. I assume it will be a quick and precise NO :p

Absolute 4D chess from our federation, announcing her when the quota was not available, and now she will actually compete.

and now when it is official and they already cnfirmed it, they are so scared that they still did not anounce it to the general public yet :p

There's nothing to confirm, they already did it last week. :p

This quickly is turning on pure comedy gold

SLO will not start in the 2nd round (Zajc was kicked out from the starting gate)

3 minutes later SLO will start (Zajc called back to the gate again )

This was pure bullshit, our federation already appealed protest. It would be better our guys would not jump in second round.

The only good thing is Japan won.

All names except :ITA are published. No Granerud, Fettner and Ammann (lost out to Trunz for the last Swiss spot).

    • Does the CAS have the authority to address from someone who believes the judges made a mistake in a given discipline? Pizzolato's last attempt at Paris 2024, which earned him the bronze medal, was controversial, but what does the CAS have to do with it? Even if the judges made a mistake then, the result won't change and this isn't the only case where someone feels wronged with this in world of sports. Unless, of course, they have some evidence of corruption or something like that
    • If Pizzolato will to return, would it be to the 86 kg category, or the 94 kg category, like Nasar? In 2024, they were both in the 89 kg category, which will no longer be at the Olympics, but in 2021 in Tokyo, Pizzolato won a medal in the 81 kg category.   Of course, it's unclear what's going on with the rape accusations- personally, unfortunately, I don't think he was ever a sweet angel- he was accused of other immoral things also 10 years ago, but gang rape? I find that hard to believe... Besides, Moldova has appealed about his bronze medal from Paris 2024 to the CAS- the verdict was supposed to be in February. Do you know anything about this? Did they have any grounds for this lawsuit at all?
    • Ukraine won 6 gold medals out of 10 in the women's competotion  + 1 silver and 1 bronze. Where do they get these girls from? It's always been a strong country, but they have never dominated like this. I wonder if their training methods would work in another country and if their coaches have any offerts to job from other countries? However, there is a significant decline in women's judo in Ukraine, so maybe they have directed all their resources and money towards wrestling?
    • Sablikova started on the road cycling and just almost qualified for Rio 2016. Maybe Lollobrigida would like to join the Italian track team? She has the good character and 2 medals at the Olympics, one in winter and one in summer, would be a legendary achievement, not only in Italy.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martina_Sáblíková
    • One Wiebes is worth more than the all Italian team with Balsamo/Fidanza, etc., that much clear. Even if the Netherlands loses its dominance in the men's sprint, Wiebes will win 2-3 gold medals in other events. Just relax, man.
    • I'm most worried about our women's team in the pursuit – we have a reserve squad, but not advancing to the top 8 is a shame. We recently competed with out 1 team and had not good in 1 round. It doesn't look good. And the Netherlands are already taking Wiebes to the track team and will soon dominate the Madison/Omnium as well. Balsamo and Paternoster haven't made any progress for years and the our women's team at the Olympics has little chance to win a medal. Italy might even win World Championship/European Championship gold in the years after the Olympics, etc., but when the real fight comes, the UK or the USA will always beat us
    • Track cycling is one of the few sports where there is no host nation quota, so  will need to work hard to achieve our quotas.  It's not our best sport, but was happy to see Top 10 results in the Elimination Race for Grant Koontz and Emma Jimenez Palos (who is just 18!).
    • Yes, I saw the same thing you did @clemsonbeav (on both accounts) but I agree it looks pretty stock.
    • Also, I just logged back into my account, where it sent me to update my profile, and when I saved that, I got a screen that included a check mark next to 'Registered for the Draw'.  Not sure I totally trust it, but it does at least say so.  (There's nothing specifically referencing Drop 2 or anything...might just be a stock screen.). I'm curious what it would look like if you looked at it @esube.  https://tickets.la28.org/
