The Canadian Olympic Pre-Trials were also today, Team Sturmay (women) and Team MacDonald (men) both their best of three finals in three games to book their tickets to the Olympic Trials.

Looks like Eurovision Sport has the whole of the Grand Slam series, the first time it has ever been broadcast internationally.  This week we are in Lake Tahoe, where both my brother and the Corleone Family in the Godfather movies have a house. 

 

Already in progress, but the TV Coverage starts overnight Euro time.

Things not clicking yet for Team Edin :SWE - just seen them give up a 5 :facepalm: on the 7th end to team McEwan :CAN.  Long way to go yet, but the old air of perfection just not there.

For the first time in 20 years, John Shuster will not be representing the :USA in curling.  His team lost the US Olympic Trials last night against Team Casper, made up of younger men who watched Shuster as they grew up.  It was a Best of 3 series, and apparently Team Shuster had a habit of losing Game 1...but this time, after losing Game 1 and winning Game 2, the magic finally wore off.  Hopefully Team Casper will be able to snag one of the two spots remaining at the OQE coming soon!

 

(Had Shuster won the trials, and had the US qualified, then he would be the sole curler to have competed in 6 Olympics..instead, he's tied with one other curler at 5.)

      I can finally piggyback off @vinipereira predictions to deliver my own    I'll be honest. I was rather busy during most of the awards season, so I wasn't able to see as much as I wanted to, or normally would have been able to. Therefore, I'm relying heavily on pundit predictions and general feel this time around.     If there was a category for best poster artwork, my nominees would be: Bugonia, Eddington, Dracula, The Sound of Falling, Sirāt   I'd give best animal acting to Pipa from Sirāt   And my favorite scenes from the year are...       Once again here I am with my annual Oscar predictions post. Last year I predicted 13/23 winners which was my worst results ever by far. For the second consecutive year Brazil is nominated so I'm hoping that 'The Secret Agent' wins something, especially because it's a film from my home state. I watched 34 out of the 35 feature films (only 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' missing) and all 15 short films nominated, so I leave a personal ranking of all the categories.   ["will win" is my prediction / "could win", my alternate prediction / "should win", my personal ranking / "shoud have been nominated", a way to remember other notable work].

      I don't know how soon that'll be though... and until then not holding my breath. Really wanted to see Caissie crushing balls at the Olympics, he deserved it for his play this tournament, and now he might not get the opportunity to. He's still young, but this will probably be Canada's best chance, and he'll only be around for Brisbane 2032 at best considering the bids in contention for 2036.    It just sucks, constant disappointment for the Canadians this year with barely anything to cheer for, and coming so close only to come up short... I'd rather us have just lost in the group stage

      I think instead of allocating 2 spots here (for Americas) WBSC should have allowed 3 spots (rather than 2) in the 2027 WBSC premiere. ( 1 each for Asia, Europe & Americas)   That way it would have ensured two things : ONLY the top team from Americas gets the quota here ( deservedly so) additionally it would have allowed teams from Americas a second shot at qualification from the 2027 premieres.    Getting only 1 tournament , more than 2 years ahead of olympics is very harsh on the teams from Americas.
