Lot many happening in the archery camp just before the Olympics

Inclusion of tainted physio Arvind Yadav

VISA issues and unavailability of psychologist Gayatri Madkekar

Unavailability of chief coach Baek Woong Ki due to not getting Olympics accredition

Unavailability of Dronacharya award winning High performance director Sanjeeva Singh after not finding a place in the support staff team

Well the first event for us in Paris is done & it was a decent performance by our girls.

Ankita did really well , Bhajan did OK & Deepika was less than impressive.

Final Ranking :

Ankita : 11th ( 666 ) SB

Bhajan : 22nd ( 659)

Deepika : 23rd ( 658)

Team :IND - 4th ( 1983 )

* With this result Ankita has also secured her place in the mixed team event.

So your assessment between "OK" and "less than impressive" ranges between a single point or a single rank.

Is it due to Deepika's reputation and expectations on her due to her experience

Or is it due to sudden inconsistent 5s,6s and 7s from her?

The Draws :

Women’s Team:

QF

:IND V :FRA / :NED

28th July 17:45 Hrs IST

Women’s Individual:

R of 64 matches

Ankita v Myszor :POL - 30th Jul

Bhajan v  Kamal :INA - 30th Jul

Deepika v  Parnat :EST - 31st Jul

The draw has opened up nicely for our team , we have a fair chance of reaching the SF, finishing in top 4 was important as that ensured a direct QF birth.

Individual draws have opened a path for one of our girls to reach QF & then anything can happen. The downside is Ankita will play Bhajan in R of 32 provided they win their opening round matches. With Deepika she can loose her first match against Estonian or could well upset other top seeds but it will depend on that day.

Lets hope the men too finish in Top 4 & we get a good XD draw.

More to do with expectations & experience. She is the most talented & experienced archer in the women’s team. However she has been underperforming by her reputation in the last 3 Olympics. I expected better from her. 665+ was the least she could have done.
