2 can play this game

Brady Ellison lost a gold on cm's

Nevin Harrison lost in a photo finish

Biles fell of a beam and stepped out on the floor.

Lyles lost the 200 gold because of covid

Triathlon mixed relay photo finish loss

Not to mention the swimming mixed relay that was a doped medal ( will be eventually returned to usa once congress is done with ioc)

The US Congress is so dysfunctional the politicians of the IOC would run rings around them.

That's probably right.  But the other part still stands.  China had almosts and usa had almosts

The medals race this year was even closer than the one in Tokyo. Like in three years ago, it was decided on the last day by the gold medals won by Jennifer Valente in cycling and the US women’s basketball team.

Well. Its like US won because it has total medals and not on total gold.

Surely the last time US didnt win on total gold (besides Beijing), has to go back to Soviet era?

Historic. The 1st ever draw on Gold.

Fun fact, a small town in Italy, Roncadelle (9.000 inhabitants) won in 15 minutes two golden medal.

Update: yesterday Roncadelle won their 3rd gold (a volleyball player). Obviously, in Italy all newspapers speak about this little (golden) town :p

It's kind of crazy for France to have as many Top 8 as China, but more than two time less gold medals. Or for Spain to have as many Top 8 as SK, but almost three times less golds.

The medals table looks nice and everyone gets crazy about it, but it really is just one side of the story.

    • apparently the Japanese organizers rejected OCA's nice request    now OCA is ordering them to do so in a not-so-nice language https://oca.asia/media/attachments/memberships_subcommittee/5/Decision_-_103rd_OCA_EB_Meeting_5ypY8y4.pdf   the last line is very interesting   I knew this for a while, for example that's why Jujjtsu is included in all of OCA events (despite being the worst sport to watch) but good to see OCA admit this. so with the corrupt OCA you can buy your way in. how much they paid the OCA officials for this ?   OK I know Qatar is financially supporting Padel (and UAE is paying everything for Jujitsu) but who is behind Teqball?  ! I don't think Thailand can do that.
    • Important information on team Aerials.   There is no AIN`s team at the start list of the world cup despite of the fact that belorussians have enough athletes to have a team.   https://medias4.fis-ski.com/pdf/2026/FS/8119/2026FS8119SLF1.pdf
    • By the way. It looks like no AIN`s will be in biathlon by the start of the Olympics. Russians filed an appeal to CAS to get AIN statuses in biathlon. But IBU did not agree to have hearings with short procedure. So the decisons are not expected before the end of qulifying period. (FIS could do the same but its top-officials prefer to help russians be back as quick as possible).   I would like to see Dolidovich at the Games. Because she is a real refugee of the relatively high level.
