I proclaim Lopez's fifth gold the greatest sport moment

No doubt. Hanckock will probably win his 5th in LA but those sports cant compare.

So, something that will be known in 23rd century has just been made.

Which would be impressive beyond words, but somehow just really doesn't come close to this in terms of feeling :d

in wrestling (specially in my country) when you reach 30 people talk about your retirement , winning Olympic gold at the age of 42 in such a tough sport is beyond unbelievable.

I think all super heavyweight wrestlers were relieved when he left his shoes on the mat, which means someone else finally can win the olympic gold :d

Although keep in mind by the time we get to 2027, I'll be asking you about the chances of him competing in LA :p

Still would not be surprised if suddenly he's there again :d

This has been dragging sooooo much. I thought by now they would have finished, since it started 3 hours ago, but there is still another 3 medal matches. Now it's going to overlap with boxing. I hate the schedule this week...

Thank Lopez for making history, because that's why we had to wait ages for all interested 1976 Olympic fencing champions to have arrived :p

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
    • Today : Jordan 3-0 Egypt  This team will surprise us
    • option no.2 for sure, as it's been all this shitstorm organized by the nhl owners through their embedded reporters   ps not that the north american audience looks really aware of the hockey rules and habits outside the nhl (and around their game, too, since they look not to know that just a couple of weeks ago they played 2 nhl matches on an ice sheet of the exact same size of Milan's olympic arena)
    • Are we supposed to take Daly's word for it or is this just public posturing to try and shame the Milan organizers (which they certainly deserve for all the delays) in order to threaten NHL participation?
    • Well that was a disappointing opening ceremony. Not to mention the boss is late too...   Anyway this is another victim of bureaucracy, the initial creative director quit in October and we get this kind of show.   Original plan: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17EVayTpig/
    • Japan missed their last shot with hammer in the 10th last night against the Philippines for them to stay alive.  USA's remaining 2 games are against Philippines and Netherlands, so they have a tough road ahead, although they've already beaten Japan, so that helps for tiebreaker purposes.
    • They have already beaten Japan, so a win would them in a strong place.
