What events are you waiting for the most in Paris 2024?

Recommended Posts

I'll try to watch/follow just about any event I can, but the sports or events I'm looking most forward to are...

7. Breaking

6. Canoe Slalom (all events)

5. Skateboard (all events)

4. Road Cycling (road races)

3. Sport Climbing (all events)

2. Equestrian Eventing

1. Triathlon (all events)

For me, I'm more interested in events held at unique venues, and/or close rivalries or other interesting storylines. I included breaking becuase I'm very curious to see what an Olympic competition looks like, and it how is received by those who tune-in and don't immediately dismiss it.

For me it's mainly all the swimming and athletics (evening sessions are a must) and all the artistic gymnastics finals.

Then - from Polish perspective - men's volleyball, women's singles tennis and speed climbing - women's speed.

Then all the road cycling and all the rowing, canoe sprint and canoe slalom finals.

Men's basketball, men's and women's handball and men's rugby sevens.

Men's singles tennis. Beach volleyball. All the triathlon events, men's golf (days 3 and 4). MTB, BMX races, track cyclng, equestrian jumping and eventing (mainly cross-country).

Then almost all the other sports - especially when Poles will be performing well. Women's volleyball, fencing, shooting, table tennis, modern pentathlon... And some sports where i don't think Poles will be strong or there will be no Poles at all - badminton, archery, diving... Combat sports are less interesting for me, but maybe some judo and men's boxing...

So almost everything actually...

I have my olympic 3-weeks vacation already secured long time ago, so it's time to look at the schedule and check the most interesting events of each day

Btw, this time all the olympic events will be broadcasted here in Poland on a new platform called MAX, which is not available here yet (they start in June i guess), i hope they will be no worse than Eurosport Player in Tokyo

E.g. day 1

This is mainly swimming finals and road cycling time trials. And men's rugby 7s finals.

Then: swimming heats as well, artistic gymnastics men's quali,

And some events with Polish athletes involved:

- M quadruple sculls in rowing heats

- shooting air rifle mixed team,,

- fencing W epee ind...

We don't have detailed schedule yet but maybe there will be first match of Polish Men's volleyball team, maybe Iga Świątek or Hubert Hurkacz will play in Rd1 match in tennis singles or men's beach volleyball pair will start their group matches.

In a spare time - diving W springboard synchro final, judo finals and some M basketball and handball matches...

1. Softball

2. Women’s Kumite 61kg

3. Men’s/Women’s Shortboard

4. Men’s 50km Race Walk

5. Women’s Volleyball

… never mind.

For me though, pretty much everything (and I mean everything) except maybe surfing (if anything, I’ll be watching the medal matches at 5:12-7:45 PM PST) and the other sports I mentioned above. Not that I don’t want to watch surfing, but that’s the only thing going on from 3:00-11:00 PM PST, and everyone needs to get some sleep. Plus, I don’t want to miss anything else.

Not because they’d be medal contenders or anything, just one of the teams I want to see in Paris most.

    • The tournament is over for Mathilde Fantin – unfortunately, a big loss for the Italy. Tomorrow we play a semifinal against France – if we win, we'll have a grand final against Hungary on Friday. Everything will be clear then, bacouse the final match against China should be a formality. In any case, we've already achieved our best result ever in our history, or at worst scenario – 3rd place in Division 1A.

    • Super runner, good guy, sadly never entirely recovered from ripping his leg to shreds in the act of going sub 10, but as you say a key relay man for the better part of a decade, and a European and World Champion, and a reminder that talent doesn't always come in obvious looking boxes -a breakthrough sprint athlete for many of middle eastern and north african heritage.

    • Duno. To me the most interesting question is the short term is whether Poilievre survives this or not. It will be tough for him to justify his leadership.
