This thread will be used to track Canada’s most notable performances on the road to it’s Olympic debut at Milano-Cortina 2026! Emma Cook-Clarke and Kylee Ohler are our best female athletes, while on the men’s side Matt Ruta is our best athlete. Bit of a tossup whether we qualify however, we’re quite far down the rankings and will likely be relying on a continental quota unless something drastic changes.

Watched a couple skimo world cups on Youtube. It's interesting. I prefer the longer course races, but don't imagine we'll be getting that at the Olympics. Guess we'll see how it goes. It's something different anyway.

Interesting getting a preview of the venue, probably a pretty good idea of how the mixed relay race will go next year too

Seems like Canada's qualification hopes will rest on beating the US for the continental spot. We're not far behind in the standings. Would have actually been really close if we didn't get a penalty in the final, actually beat them to the line just barely for 11th, but then Poland and Canada got 10s penalties, so US ended up 10th and we ended up 12th

I think Canada was down 11 points before the race, and they flashed the standings before signing off and it looked like Canada was now down 6 points

8th for Emma Cooke Clarke in women’s sprint at the ISMF World Championships!

 

Unfortunately, our men struggled. Top men were Aaron Robinson and Matt Ruta in 45th/46th, and around 17 places behind the top American.

Looks like there will be one last event before the window closes, the mixed qualifying spot will ride on one race, Dec 6th and the US will have home field advantage https://www.skimostats.com/world-cup/2026

      Shades of 1998 with  and  in the same group but this time it's really a terrible draw for the Thistles. I recall Brazil and Scotland played in the same group in 1974 and 1990 too so that's quite a high probabiliy rate.

      I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
