Conor Hall officially in 5th place - means if either of :SLO, :UKR or :NED get 1st in the Team competition later this week (or 2nd behind :TUR) then :GBR at least gets an Individul quota.  Unless of course :GBR could get the Team quota???

From the nations competing, :GBR were the 3rd placed team on 1961 behind :NED on 2002 and :ITA on 1979.

There are 27 teams entered for the team event and if the GB archers can replicate the performance they had last week then there's a decent chance we could get top 8 in qualifying - but that would still mean we would likely have to defeat one from the likes of :FRA :GER :NED :ESP to get to the semi-finals and be in with a shout of a quota this week.

Both the men's and women's teams are beginning to fall off the pace as we head towards the end of qualifying.

Perhaps most surprising thing so far is the relatively poor form of Penny Healey.

:GBR men will be up against 23rd seed :ROU in the first round of the team competition tomorrow. If they get through that, they will face 7th seed :UKR

:GBR women have a bye to the round of 8 matches on Friday. They will face the winner of Belgium (11th seed) and :AZE (22nd seed)

    • What are the odds WTA/ITF has Kostyuk vs Potapova AO R1 just to see if the hand shake happens?
    • Malinin  opted for the 4-Axel in his Short Program, but faltered, landing him in 3rd thus far (and only 0.05 away from 4th!).  Surely he has the tools to rise back up in the Free Program.  (Also, perhaps this will serve to show him that he is in fact beatable.)
    • I think they incorrectly translated Ukrainian word "nahorody" - it is not a full synonym of "medal". Its cocrrect translation is "award". Meanwhile russian tennis playes switched for Potapova ->  Rakhimova ->
    • Ukrainian diver Lyskun switches allegiance to Russia, loses all medals | Olympics News | Al Jazeera   'loses all medals'   I would assume Al Jazeera could have been a bit clearer and mention this would presumably only be national medals. I mean, it's not like the Ukrainian federation, or any single federation for that matter, has the power to strip her of her world and European championships medals I hope (not for her sake, but because that would be a super weird precedent)
    • That's what I'd plan as well (except for MelFest), but I also know I am hypocritical enough to still want to watch the show and have a fun evening

    • Surely. Her first coach now works in russia (and grandma lives in russia according to Sereda).
