Apparently Lima has a cricket club

Sure, like all the countries where :GBR built railways, lighthouses & sewage systems.

Looks like we have our first QS (field hockey)

https://s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/org.panamhockey.strapi/Qualification_PAG_2027_ENG_dffd0fa50f.pdf

Some slight changes versus 2023, 2019 and 2015.

Final sports program: https://www.panamsports.org/en/news-sport/panam-sports-defines-36-sports-for-lima-2027/

In: Cricket

Out: Bowling, Racquetball, Breaking ( @Joshfavourite sport dropped :d)

As I understand it, the other LA2028 sports (football, lacrosse) did not have enough federations to qualify to be a sport (min 20). So all the main program Olympic sports will be held.

There goes almost all of  :BOL chances for medals. I hope they reconsider racquetball.

Did the bowling venue from 2019 not survive? The sport doesn't bring much revenue, but it also doesn't cost much to host if the bowling alley is still in place.

It's more so to do with keeping sports down to a max of 36. I think this was a stated goal sometime post Santiago 2023.

Makes sense.

Looks like basketball was also cut, the only core Olympic sport not to be held at the games.

So we have 30/31 core Olympic sports, 3/5 LA28 sports (Baseball/Softball, Cricket, Squash) and 3 Pan Am sports (Basque Pelota, Karate, Water Skiing).

Yeah, cause cricket is so popular outside the Caribbean, which in turn field a sole team :roflmao:

They have 20+ federations however, + other countries like Canada/USA probably voted to include since its on the Olympic program.

Curious to see what an 8 team tournament would be made up of for each gender. I am all for it if it gives the smaller Caribbean countries chances to qualify a team such as :CAY and :BER

    • this is not funny at all, pal
    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
