Somewhat coincidentally, right as you sent that I came across a post on the ISU Speed Skating Instagram about Stolz winning the all-around 500m. Surely the surprise wasn't for him winning that? Biggest favourite for a single distance ever in the allround championships If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! The whole talk about these entire championships has for days been around "how on earth can Roest hold off Stolz?", they are basically the only two riders in the entire field with more than like 2% chance for the gold, and it's universally seen as 50/50, or with Stolz as favourite If nothing super weird happens, nobody other than Roest has any serious chance to come anywhere near Stolz. Of course, after 34.10 Stolz's chances have skyrocketed even more, and the 6:14 he just posted is even more insane. Roest needs the race of his life in the 5k, 1500m and 10k to even stand a chance now.
