Another disgraceful result in womens epee. To all the german officials out there: Either you invest some money for good coaches or you stop the funding for fencing.

Stahlberg and Ebert are the most talented athletes of their age group, but both horribly failed here, what a disgrace!

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

surprising Gold Medal for Italy...not in the sense that we won it, but because it went to our no.3 epee specialist, who defeated first the no.1 seeded (and no.1 Italian) girl, then the German Stahlberg (another one of the pre-competition favourites)...

congrats to her...

not so successful for us was the Men's foil, but it was expected...coming home with a bronze is good enough...

on this side, I'm a bit disappointed by the early exit of Geofferey Tourette, who was so impressive in his run to the Cadets' Gold but failed to confirm himself among the 3 year elder guys...

tomorrow it's time for the Junior Teams' events to start (Women's Foil and Men's Sabre will have the honor)...

    • Shades of 1998 with  and  in the same group but this time it's really a terrible draw for the Thistles. I recall Brazil and Scotland played in the same group in 1974 and 1990 too so that's quite a high probabiliy rate.

    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
    • Belgium is the luckiest in this story
    • One of the worst possible draw for us. Group really easy but having to face  or  in the Round of 32 is devastating.
