This brings back the chances for the Dutch team. But honestly, our team plays so inconsistently. One moment they play incredibly well, the next moment it's not worth watching. They are missing a real top player, who finishes the points. We'll see what happens in the last five matches. I wish both teams the best Josh and Jinzha
Noorderling29 156 Posted June 1 #102 Share Posted June 1 The big difference between the 2016/2018 successful Dutch team and the current one is the absence of an opposite like Lonneke Sloetjes. Celeste Plak does not deliver the same consistency and number of points and I’m still not convinced that Damberink has what it takes. So we’ve fallen back from being number 4 to 6 of the world (with 4th places at both the Rio Olympics and 2018 Worlds) to around 10 to 12. Good enough to scare a better team on our day and to make to the final 4 at the Europeans but not good enough to be competitive for prices at the World stage. Federer91 2,273 Posted June 1 #103 Share Posted June 1 The fight between NED and CAN will come down to their direct match. Whoever gets the win most likely gets also the quota. They have 4 more matches with both playing France & Korea, which they should win, and 2 other matches they should lose (on paper). So the direct match will be the key. Noorderling29 156 Posted June 2 #105 Share Posted June 2 Given their 3-0 victory against France this morning, and the limited number of points Canada can gain against South Korea this evening (our time), the Dutch tem has leapfrogged Canada. Still too close to call.

JoshMartini007 2,375 Posted June 2 #107 Share Posted June 2 (edited) By the end of week 2. leads by 2.21 points. Canada has a tougher set in week 3 ( vs. ), but the match between the two nations will go a long way to determine who goes to the Olympics. Every set matters Edited June 2 by JoshMartini007 Jinzha
Josh 7,818 Posted June 2 Author #108 Share Posted June 2 defeat 3-0 Struggled a bit in the closing stages of the 3rd set, but otherwise South Korea got demolished. Not sure how this is a “core team” … Jinzha
