As a non European member on this forum, away from all politics

I loved :UKR nomination.
It was brilliant both the performance as well as the song .
I am surprised how :SUI topped with that song.

Yeah I also liked :UKR , for me it's the only song that reached "really good" level in my ears. There are other good songs, but none came close to Ukraine.

Great winner to the contest, absolutely

delighted for Switzerland and Nemo for a well deserved win.

contest was pretty ugly to watch as a fan with all of the tension backstage, and then obviously the events leading to the DQ. Awaiting the fall out but EBU has not come out of this at all well.

amazing winner!!!

It's funny to picture all those conservatives that spent a lot of money on Israel and that territory obtained a lower place than last year xD

I don't know about other countries but in Greece it's not expensive to vote in Eurovision. It's like 20 euro for 20 votes or something like that.

How ironic it is that on the most polarized and divided contest of all time, the most neutral nation in the world wins? :d

I would prefer Ukraine to win (best song of the show to me), or Croatia (best entertainer, and clearly the best for the public), but I can live with Nemo winning.

To me it feels like last year where Loreen won it because of jury and the most popular for the public ended up second.

I don’t think Joost would win to be honest, but I do think it’s ridiculous this whole desproporcional punishment he got, especially with a song about united Europe and with such a good message at the end, but oh well, he made some dangerous comments in a contest sponsored by an Israeli company so it was not a surprise that they kicked him out.

I’m also proud of Iolanda and yet another top 10 for Portugal

He wasn't DQ for the comments, but for a threatening gesture to a female photographer backstage despite agreed rules that he wouldn't be filmed after his performance (as he can be emotional afterwards). Not sure at this point if he did more than push the phone out of the photographer's hands. Either way, it just seems like a complete overreaction and symbol of the society we live in unfortunately.

And no Netherlands was never winning due to the lack of jury support for the song. The juries actually voted on their semi final performance in the grand final and originally gave them 58 points (a mere 307 behind Switzerland).

"The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 reached 163 million people over the 3 live shows across 37 public service media markets. The total reach of the Contest increased by 1 million people compared to 2023 and has grown by 2 million since Turin 2022.

The viewing share of the Grand Final was 46.7% - the highest share since 2006 and almost triple the broadcast channels' average (17.6%). While among youth audiences (15-24 year olds), the viewing share of the Grand Final was 58.6%, the highest share on record and more than 4 times the broadcast channels' average (13.7%).  Host country Sweden had 2.3 million viewers tuning in for the Grand Final and, at 87.3%, the viewing share is their highest recorded for the Eurovision Song Contest since Sweden hosted it in 2000.

Switzerland, who won the Contest for the third time thanks to Nemo's The Code, saw an average audience of 723,000 viewers across the three linguistic regions, up 40% on 2023. In the three regions, the viewing share was the highest ever recorded.

Germany recorded the highest audience for the Grand Final with an average of 8.1 million viewers watching on Das Erste and ONE. The United Kingdom had the second highest audience with 7.7 million viewers tuning in for the Grand Final on BBC One. France, meanwhile, achieved an audience of 5.4 million viewers; which is an increase of 1.9 million compared to last year’s edition.

In close to half of the markets (18 out of 37), the Eurovision Song Contest claimed over 50% of the viewing share, led by Iceland with 96% and closely followed by other Nordic markets (Sweden 87.3%, Norway 85.5% and Finland 83.1%), Croatia (73.2%) and Lithuania (70.2%).

Grand Final runner-up Croatia, who gained their best ever result in the Contest, delivered their highest Eurovision Song Contest audience and viewing share on record since 2006, with 1.1 million viewers and 73.2%, respectively.

Greece achieved their best audience since 2011, with 2.8 million viewers, more than double last year’s performance. Ireland had their biggest audience since 2013 with 650,000 viewers, close to double last year’s figures. And Latvia also had the most viewers watching in nearly a decade with 252,000 viewers, more than quadrupling last year’s performance. The viewing share in Latvia was 61.8%, the highest performance since 2007.

This year, public voting was open before the 3 live shows in non-participating countries and throughout the performances in the Grand Final, resulting in viewers from 156 countries casting votes for their favourite songs – 12 more than when Rest of the World voting was introduced in 2023.

Outside the participating countries, viewers in the USA, Canada, Romania, Mexico, UAE, Türkiye, South Africa, Hungary, Slovakia and Bulgaria cast the most votes online."

    • It's an interesting question, Norway is certainly expanding their efforts into a number of new sports. So, that cannot help but to peal off a few more natural athletes. I know their training methods are kinda rocking the world in a number of summer endurance sports.  I can't really speak to they dynamics of their development program. Their men's nordic programs largely always seem to be ridiculously deep, overwhelmingly so the last decade or so.

    • But it seems to us that Norway wasn't as strong in Lillehammer 1994 as it was later? And not just in women's events. Generally, until 2000, Norway was much weaker in women's biathlon and women`s cross-country skiing. I remember in the 1990s, Italy's biggest rivals, Belmondo and di Centa, were Russia, when Norway somewhere further back and only in the classic style. Bente Martinsen- Skari, this is their first really strong girl in cross country, just about 2000, just like Liv Grete Skielbreid- Pioree in women`s biathlon at similar times.   Do you think, that is there any hope that thanks to the popularity of Haaland and football in general in Norway in recent years, winter sports such as biathlon or cross-country skiing will lose a little bit, becouse that?

    • This suggestion  @Dnl  made some months ago has also been implemented.   In each club, I have added a "Milano Cortina 2026 Qualification Tracker" record which takes the content from the Qualification by Nation tracker of that NOC.   People who see it can not edit the content, but it will be automatically updated once @Matej will update the record, and if you notice any mistake feel free to report it to Matej or in the record itself.   Club's admins can now edit the name of the section into their own language or change the spelling, I have used "Milano Cortina 2026 Qualification Tracker" for all the clubs. To do so, go inside the section, then click on "Manage Club"-"Edit this database Record" and change the name of the section:     By the way, if you are not a club's admin but you would like to edit things inside the club just let me know and I will give you the rights to do so. There can be more "admins" inside the club with the rights to edit and organize the sections, and that's not a role that require time or commitment.   Let's try to make all the clubs active during MiCo and when the LA28 qualifications will start!
