But before Olympics he still seen as a promise for the future, but not a big potential medallist in Rio. Okay, he was junior medallist, but didn't appeared well on two big competitions for brazilian athletes, most of media (and me, including) didn't believed on him, and, thank all gods, we are all wrong :d

I had him at around 15% for a medal :p (and Dutra at 7% btw)

Complete and utter BS in the women 400, you run on 2 feet, you get off them you are DQ'd, simple as that, it's not a long jump hybrid and you dont jump into the water for 50m freestyle, Allyson Felix got completely screwed here!

Alright, show the rules where it says Miller should have been DQ'ed, because as far as I know, everyone has 2 feet off the ground when running, it's not race walking :)

She shouldn't have been as far as I know, Felix should have ran faster. She didn't, rightful win for Miller

Except that people might start doing that much more often. It paid of for Miller and the Brazilian.

Sure, then they should change the rules. On the other hand, it's their choice. But mostly: as long as it's not in the rules that this is illegal, it's utter bullshit to say Felix should have won.

Hahaha! Não contavam mesmo!

For those who do not speak Portuguese, this is the catchphrase of Chapulin. It's something like "They weren't expecting me to be so cunning!"

I totally agree. Not the most beautiful way to win, but it was not against the rules. Then again, this is not a sport where they are scored for beautiful moves, anyway.

I am shocked to see how empty the stadium always is for final sessions, in addition to that the fans are very unfair. I am actually happy that there are so few competitive brazilian athletes.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

    • Here's a comparison relative to 2024 (I removed the new team sports to make it more comparable). This ignores Belarus and Russia.   Largest Increases Relative to 2024 1.  +58 2.  +44 3. +31 4.  +29 4.  +29 6.  +28 7.  +27 8.  +24 9.  +22 10.  +21 10.  +21   Unsurprisingly, the United States is expected to see the largest increase thanks to host quotas. It's not as massive as previous host nations, but that's because they don't need host quotas for most sports. South Africa is looking at a big increase, but only if they accept the water polo quotas this time around.     Largest Decreases Relative to 2024 1.  -135 2.  -43 3.  -38 4.  -33 5.  -31 6.  -29 7.  -28 8.  -26 8.  -26 10.  -23 10.  -23   Again, no surprise to see France topping the list as they no longer benefit from host quotas. Ireland takes heavy losses not only by losing two large team events, but is generally down in most sports. Interestingly, Italy has the same number of large team events, but it's the drop in athletics and rowing which caused it to be so high up in the list.

    • Thanks to everyone who voted for , and especially to @OlympicIRL for another win and for putting in the effort to organize this edition! Unfortunately, I’ve been really busy these days attending online events about archaeology and museums. Hopefully, I’ll find time to participate next time.
