Athletics at the Summer Olympic Games 2016

I still don't understand Jamaica...they have 4 athletes in the men's 100/200/400 meters listed as actually running those events, but why? None of them are listed as alternates, so what's up with that? Who will actually run the events?

.

Maybe is not decided yet.

Spain has selected four men in 3000 Step, and the three olympians are going to be decided acording the results of national championships next week.

Athletics is the event I am most looking forward to as there are 15 athletes from my university that qualified (some in countries other than the USA) including two that I know personally (Jarrion Lawson - long jump and Lexi Weeks - pole vault)!

Not only he's out of the Rio Games, but his entire career could suffer a lot after a similar injury...in fact, he has a 50% detachment of the deltoid ligament in his left ankle (the jumping one)...

This is a nightmare, the worst News of the year so far, although i dont like him. Its always hearbreaking when someone gets punished for aiming high, mens high jump will be much less interesting without him. I hope that he will come back as fast as possible. Good News is that he is Young enough for one or two more olympics, hopefully Italy will win a surprising Gold medal in some other Event, maybe mens Volleyball or mens 1500m (Swimming).

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

to be honest, if we win the Gold medal over the 1500m Free in Swimming it wouldn't be a surprise at all...actually, it's the most probable and the most expected for Italy, with or without Sun Yang it doesn't matter (many people also expect Paltrinieri breaking the world record...and personally I even think he can go below the 14.30 mark, too)...

the volleyball team winning the Gold medal, instead, would be quite a surprise...
