Any news about Vlhova from Slovak sources? Because for now we only have Italian and Polish sources - unofficial.

We only know that Slovakia has three guaranteed female spots.

Unfortunately, she doesn't post much information on Instagram... Brignone posts something practically every day and you can immediately wiev if she's training or not...

:SVK will have 5 representatives in Luge at the 2026 Olympics.

5februar2022-zoh-peking2022-sanky-ninis-586244947-1437580054559092-1950047492121

Jozef Ninis (Top pic) in the M Singles will compete at his 6th consecutive WOG !!!

He debuted in Torino 2006 to close the circle in another Italian resort in 2026, by this he set the new Slovak Winter Olympic record of participation and tie the all time one with Erik Vlček competing at 6 games in Sprint Canoeing as well.

The remaining quartet (Pic 2) will debut at the Olympics, all still Juniors

Christián Bosman & Bruno Mick in the M Doubles and still schoolgirls Viktória Praxová & Desana Špitzová in the olympic premiere of the W Doubles

Must also be said, that we were quite unlucky in this qualifiers periode, Marián Skupek missed the second M Singles quota by 1 point and ended first non-qualified athlete and the experienced doubles Vaverčák/Zmij which was in clear qualifying position ended the season after Vaverčák injured his knee in the training before the Sigulda race 2 weeks ago

Also for the first time no W Singles participation for us meaning also obviously no participation in the Mixed Relay competition for the first time as well

Team :SVK (Updated as of 12th January 2026)

40 Athletes (30 M + 10 W)

Our biathlon federation announced Quotas 41 & 42 secured for Slovakia

After today´s IBU Cup sprint in Osrblie, it is official. :SVK will have also 2 Male athletes in 2026 WOG Biathlon.

Also it is officially announced that Jakub Borguľa will use one of them, the second one will be awarded after tomorrow´s Sprint in Ruhpolding between Šimon Adamov and Martin Maťko (Basically the better ranked tomorrow will grab the ticket)

Going to be an Olympic debut for all of them.

By this we will be allowed to field also the Mixed Relay, sadly obviously no M Team relay for us this time

Quota #43 added today for team Slovensko

Our W 2-Bob succeeded to grab the very last ticket for the competition in the last day of the qualifiers,

Viktória Čerňanská who already was qualified in the Monobob will thus compete in Cortina also in the Two-Woman bob alongside of Lucia Mokrášová.

Going to be an Olympic debut for Lucia.

If the calculations are correct, we will have more athletes than four years ago! What a special moment of not constantly sending smaller delegations each time.

Switzerland has around 175 quota places. It’s possible that some will still be declined, for example two in Nordic combined or in biathlon. In addition, the team could end up being slightly larger than in Beijing 2022.

We will have a slightly bigger team, than in 2022 at this time. Bar any rejections of course, which could only happen in cross-country.

For 2026 it's looking like 19 quotas: :BUL

- Alpine Skiing - 2 (1 M + 1 W)

- Biathlon - 8 (4 M + 4 W)

- Cross-country - 3 (2 M + 1 W)

- Figure Skating - 1 (1 W)

- Ski-jumping - 1 (1 M)

- Snowboard - 4 (3 M + 1 W)

In 2022 we had 15 people:

- Alpine Skiing - 3 (2 M + 1 W)

- Biathlon - 8 (4 M + 4 W)

- Figure Skating - 1 (1 W)

- Luge - 1 (1 M)

- Ski-jumping - 1 (1 M)

- Snowboard - 1 (1 M)

We had one more male quota in cross-country, but our athlete got Covid and didn't compete.

Outside medal chances exist in snowboard parallel and snowboard cross,  bobsleigh, cross-country sprint and team sprint, and hopefully also in men’s ice hockey 🙂

    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA

    • In Milan we share the building with no one else than     &       In Cortina we share the place with
    • impossible, there are not enough venues in both towns and I mean, Milan doesn't have an Olympic Stadium, a decent Tennis Complex and a big Swimming Complex (not to mention the sea) Rome, on the other hand, doesn't have a Rowing/Canoeing Basin nor arenas and stadiums for the team sports beyond football and rugby there's no chance that all those venues would be built from scratch, meanwhile if we use both cities we already have almost everything we need, especially the most expensive and controversial sites
