@heywoodu yes this is greek. Its a part of a Cretan Mantinada.

 

Its translation is:

"I tried to deny you
but each time I tried it
its a sign
that I owe you my life",

Efthimia (greek female name), Creta (region)

 

It seems a woman wrote it in a wall as a dedication <3 to a man

 * now that i watched the image better it is clear that it is written on the bar of a knife :)
