gameday #3 started with game #11, when :NZL beat :BAN by 8 wickets

after allowing :BAN to score only 245/9 in 50 overs in the 1st inning, a sleepy :NZL team took more than 30 overs in the 2nd inning to wake up and close the Bengali affair down, scoring 248/2 in 42.5 overs

in general, not the best and most entertaining match of the tournament so far

Tomorrow, time for game #12, the Mother of all Matches, the biggest rivalry in this sport: :IND vs :PAK at 10.30 a.m. in Ahmedabad (hopefully in front of a great crowd to heat up the atmosphere -as if it was necessary :p )

and all the hype finally did prove useless and senseless

in game #12, :IND easily beat :PAK by 7 wickets

:PAK started well, but when the 2nd wicket fell too early and Ul-Haq was gone, even their best pair (on paper) Babar & Rizwan couldn't do that much, they just did slow down and when the 2 stars were also gone, the middle and bottom order of the Pakistani batsmen were just destroyed by the Indian bowlers, with wickets falling one after another

in the end, :PAK just scored 191/all out in 42.5 overs in the 1st inning and it was basically a joke for :IND to win the match, scoring 192/3 in only 30.3 overs

Tomorrow, it's time for game #13, with :ENG facing :AFG at 10.30 a.m. CET in Delhi in a match they just can't afford to lose (still, they're heavily favourite, it would take a miracle to :AFG to upset the reigning world champions)

Ryan ten Doeschate

Former Netherlands all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special

A fantastic day for Dutch cricket, the planning and the execution. We thought they were initially getting blown away and yet here they are shaking hands with the South Africa team with a win under their belts. It’s hard to believe but here it is.

They’re going to have to delve into it and tear it apart and work out how it actually happened. We’re going to be glowing in our pace for the Dutch team and also for individual performances. Van de Merwe changed it for this team and Scott Edwards jumped on that and put the South Africa team to the sword. It was Ackermann who then got the breakthrough and the game changed again.

    • now the shooting sport takes a little Christmas break and the new season resumes in January with the Asian Championships for the Shotgun specialists ( Doha, Jan. 11th through 22nd)   the World Cup will be back in late March, beginning in  Tangiers (March 25th through April 3rd, Shotgun specialists only)   the Rifle and Pistol specialists will start their new season with the European 10m Championships in  Yerevan (Feb. 27th through March 5th) and the 1st World Cup stage for them will be in  Granada in April (5th through 13th)   300m, 25m and 50m European Champs will be in  Osijek (May 30th through June 21st), meanwhile the Shotgun European Champs will be held in  Athens from Sept. 27th through Oct. 13th

    • so, the 2025 season is officially over, after the World Cup Finals have been completed with the Shotgun events, where (once again!!!) a new format for the final stage of each event has been experimented for the first time (before it becomes a regular feature in the next season)   the new format enlarge the starting field in each event's final stage to 8 shooters and dramatically shortens the number of target shots to decide the placings   the only characteristic remaining is the progressive eliminations principle   now, as written above, 8 shooters make the final, where after only 12 targets the eliminations start: by then, the last 2 shooters must leave the competition (7th and 8th ranked)   after 12 more targets (24 in total), 2 more shooters have to leave the final (5th and 6th ranked)   then, the crazy carousel starts: every 4 targets we have a new elimination  so, after 28 targets, the 4th ranked shooter is done; after 32 targets the bronze medallist is known and after only 36 targets (provided there's no need for a shoot-off), compared to the previous 60, the gold and silver medallists are crowned   I guess the tiktok people with the attention span of a chinchilla have won once again
