it's based on the number of starters...

if there are 2 crews, then only the golds medal is awarded...

with 3 starters, only gold and silver are awarded...

with 4+ starters, the full set of medals is up for grabs...

basically, the IF doesn't want the last placed boat to get a medal only because they're participating; if you want a medal, you have to beat at least 1 team...

if you read yesterday's posts, we tried to explain what's happening in the rowing world (in a few words, after 2024 the lightweight classes are going to be dismissed -since also the LW doubles will go out of the Olympic program, therefore many Nations have already abandoned the non-Olympic races, focusing on the last Olympic events only)...

Thanks for the reply. Information is hard to get here, as our national TV bought the rights to these games, but doesn't show any sport live, only a few select ones that garner interest. I wouldn't have even known we had a team in this final had I not checked the official site. It's really bad since everything is live on youtube, but we can't watch because out national tv has the rights (bought with tax payer money)...

D'Amato with an injury in the vault final. She might miss the next two finals.

she still manages to get silver...small consolation (on paper she should have easily won gold), hoping that the injury is not too bad...

by the way, she still has the balance beam final left (but she won't start, of course), the uneven bars are contested by her twin sister...

Kind of surprised to see that the Hungarian winner apparently does not speak a word of English in this day and age. :mumble:

maybe it's the new Orban policy...kids have to study Russian instead of English...

soon Italy will be the same...:hairpull: :hairpull: :hairpull:

Still very few Hungarians speak English, we probably have the lowest percentage of English speakers in the entire EU. Shit educational system and many rather learn German as their second language because Austria is the way out for anyone who doesn't want to live here.
