Road Cycling 2020 Discussion Thread

Last year the Tour of Israel was mysteriously cancelled, this year the 'Tel Aviv Classic' died a slow death and just disappeared

Oh Israel, stop making a mess of stuff. Deservedly in this case by the way, any new race that calls itself a 'Classic' should be automatically cancelled.

Honestly never heard of it no one ever wrote about here in any Israeli website so it’s weird some of the things in this report are false or misleading tbh I searched in all of the Israeli websites and found absolutely nothing also included the link of the Israeli cycling website https://israelcycling.org.il/  all the website about those contests are foreign-non Israeli and in order to have cycling competition in Israel you need the Sport administration acceptance which is a thing that never even brought up in government websites so yeah it’s a bit ?? (fishy)

Well, I highly doubt well-known cycling websites are all in an anti-Israel conspiracy and making things up :d So most likely it's some Israeli organizers who thought it'd be easy to have a race after the start of the Giro in Jerusalem (possibly without even involving the Israeli cycling federation) and then it all just died a slow death two years in a row.

Yep it’s reasonable and make sense after a lot of time without any hosting of large sporting events a lot of individuals and groups are trying to bring some events to Israel and while “Tel Aviv classic “ is a cocky name and organizing a competition like this would have probably cause a mess so I Admit it’s not the best idea but I’m happy with the increase of sporting events that taking place in Israel (but only if they got proper names?

Here we go again. Chokri Elmehdi of Morocco had signed a contract with Israel Cycling Academy after rumours had been going on for a while. First Arab Muslim rider for the team, awesome!

Few days later aaaaaand to the surprise of absolutely nobody, he has left the team due to 'personal reasons'. Most likely the Moroccan Cycling Federation, which had pretty much never supported him in any way, suddenly was 'a little interested', asked some questions and got rather angry, more or less forcing him to sign for some lower level French team.

Ahmet Örken all over again

    • I have reported this again and they said it should be fixed now, please let me know if you are still facing issues.
    • more countries added to the list of US ban    you can't travel to USA if you are from : burkina faso , niger , Laos , South sudan , mali , sierra leon ...
    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
