Embarassing but expected blowout against super mighty skilled reigning champions...

surprising but earned win of this amazing young German squad over the hosts ...

and absolutely shocking Tennis bagel as the worst Canadian defeat in a while in this category emballed by serious injury of their biggest star and expected NHL Draft #1 Alexis Lafreniere ...

and incredible winning streak of Sweden at U20 WCH preliminary Round now reaching number 50 matches in a row ! wasn´t the only highlights of this crazy day 3

Two other curious moments to notice from this day, one quite funny and the other not so much...

German Justin Schutz was sitting at the penalty box for 2 minutes penalty and when he returned into the ice he was immediately send back for another 2 minutes ! Something you really don´t see often :roflmao:

the less fun thing now, :CAN captain Barret Hayton apparently couldn´t swallow the 0-6 lesson from Russia tonight since he behaved really sadly, didn´t remove his helmet during the Russian anthem, causing controversy, Russian players were not happy at all and their capteain even protested, but the refs send him back

a couple of Russian players then decided to ignore him durng the traditional after match hand shake

@heywoodu I know you secretly love controversies in sport, so I thought you may like it

And that Canadian guy seems like an incredibly poor loser indeed. Grow up.

He's like the 3rd guy to do that in the past few WJC tournaments.

These kids really need some more lessons.

    • Entering the middle? It doesn't feel like Winter sport season until the second week of November for me  The middle of the season comes around Wengen and Kitzbuhel.
    • Something you do not see often Kutaisi intentionally tried to not win a match twice in regular time and 2 following extra times and in all 3 times failed   They were supposed to win by 7 points at least to keep their chance to qualify in Eurocup competition alive, so when they could win by 2 they decided to not   That was hilarious I recommend to watch both the ends of 4 quarter and both Extra times
    • Yesterday was the anniversary of the highest ever football score   75 own goals scored in 1st half
    • Crazy programme for Glenn, from space Definitely the best short programme of the season so far.   78.18, new American record! (NorthAm record was sooo close)
    • Starting the buildup to the European Cross Country Championships next month.  The English National Relays will apparently be featuring contenders for Team GB.  FTA on YT.
    • What I'd give simply for the world juniors and such to even be back at Eurosport...those were the days
    • it's not difficult when you have such a strict policy to enter or leave the country. Or when you have a dictator that can mask number as he wish, if he can convince their people that a highly censored and restrictive land can host a competition like the Olympic Games, i'm sure he can convince no covid case was detected.   One fun fact is that their guards and border control officers were very serious and strict with people from other nationalities when entering the country, but with us it was very different, they would look at our passport with serious face, look at the country, look at us, start smiling and say "Portugal?? Cristiano Ronaldo!!!!"   This behaviour happened in every single checkpoint in every single Central Asia land. It's like a vip pass in this area of the world
    • I still remember watching the World Junior Championships in Moncton when ES was hyping her unbeaten streak of 100+ races or whatever the number was and she promptly came 2nd in 200m
    • After four weekends of winter sports, we are slowly entering the middle of the winter season . And, as usual, it's time for statistics that I don't know which theared to put in      After 29 events, 20 different NOCs was already on the podium. After several seasons, Uzbekistan is also back on the podium thanks to figure skating (and two former Russians).   This weekend will be all about ice sports, with a total of 13 events: 4 in figure skating (first stage in Europe) and 9 in short track (second stage in Montreal, since SLC was cancelled)
