It happened only once at the inaugural worlds in 1983, probably was as boring race as tonight

A quick YouTube search suggests in 1983 it was decided quite early indeed, like often is the case in the usual African 'up the pace higher and higher and wait for nobody to be left' races

 

Definitely wasn't a thrilling final with a decision in the last meters like today

Moraa with the gold in a new PB time of 1:56.03. Silver again for   Hodgkinson in 1:56.34, and bronze for Mu in 1:56.61
