Talking about Olympic qualification, huge result for Llavador...while a few teams missing this women's foil stage means that Egypt is basically guaranteed a top 16 spot now.

gone...

now it's also mathematical...

:EGY Egypt are the 7th team qualified for the women's team foil event of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games...

meanwhile :POL Poland and :HUN Hungary are still fighting for the European spot, with Hungary heavily favourite to take it (POL are facing RUS in the quarterfinals, HUN are facing ITA...if both are eliminated at this stage, which is highly likely, HUN are mathematically qualified to the OG)...

Poland are really trying hard against the Russians...

Hungary lost badly against ITA, now it's all in the Polish hands...they desperately need to win vs RUS to keep their hope alive...

wow! what a strong effort by Poland!!!

I didn't expect them to comeback once they were back 2/3 hits in the last assault...but they did it and now they can still steal the Olympic spot from Hungary...

placement matches now will be decisive, as POL need to make up 9 points to overtake HUN...

    • Well, it still hasn’t settled in an hour later.   This team has given me so many heartbreaks over the years it’s actually insane. I can’t imagine having to endure to this for multiple decades. Even if we have some luck, we’re just not destined to finish the job.   I don’t know. This sucks. Everyone in the country would be over the moon if someone told us about finishing fourth before the tournament, but it just sucks. Not getting to see them with the medals, not getting to see them cheerfuly answering questions from the media, I don’t know.   I mean, yeah, fourth place is great. No matter how the games looked like, we can claim we’re the fourth best team after the tournament, no one can take that away. But to imagine we were one game from celebrating with the players on the main square in the capital, I don’t even want to imagine. I don’t know.
