I doubt that an American or Australian surfing aficionado  ( ie from the best surfing countries and cultures ) would agree with your analysis

I don't need them to agree...that's a fact. point.

WSL is a commercial circuit, built only for money purpose by a bunch of "rebels" who didn't want to follow the rules and limitations that a world federation recognized by the IOC has...

and the fact that apart from a few individuals from France and South Africa (and once every while from other Countries, but they are just temporary exceptions, like Igarashi, Hennessy or Hareb right now), all the competitors are from USA/AUS and lately BRA is there to be seen...it's not a wet fantasy...

this is the actual world championships, with all the best surfers in the world (since we have WSL and non-WSL specialists)...

the WSL is just a professional elite circuit with the best athletes from basically only the "surfing Nations"...they just established that league because they wanted to take advantage of the financial aspects and build a place where the best among the best were more easily recognizable by the fans...

it's like the UFC and the other MMA organizations...the first is supposed to have the best fighters, but that's not always nor necessarily true...they're just the reachest, better organized and more "media friendly" crew, rather than the cradle of the best specialists...

I doubt that any American or Australian surfing enthusiast or aficionado would share your view . this just sounds like another sporting federation full of fat Europeans who are professional committeemen

After the end of the second day of heats at women's competition, we have a panorarm about the olympic quotas.

Asia: :JPN:INA:KOR:CHN:THA:PHI still fighting for the asia's quota .

Africa: With only 4 competitors from 2 different countries :RSA:SEN. The surfer from Senegal has already disqualified. Then, South Africa needs to put one of their surfers between the 30th first positions to qualify, Bianca Buitendag from South Africa is in Round 4 and she is the favourite to get this quota.

Oceania: :NZL:GUM:FIJ for this spot. Paige Hareb from New Zealand is the favourite and the best athlete of this continent so far. (I'm not counting Australia, once they will qualify by WSL)

Europe: the most imprevisible. :NED:FRA:GER:ISR are the best countries so far, with surfers in Round 4. :POR:SUI:ITA:NOR:RUS:ESP:DEN:IRL:TUR:GBR have surfers in Repechage.
