Today ended an incredible across all-sports World championship medal streak which started in 2009...

A dumb hit at the upper part of the track, when a strong wind blew Matej Beňuš a bit strongly than he expected and pushed him to slightly touch the gate... 2 seconds penalty.. which at the end costed us the medal and the end of this epic streak...:(

I do not know what is going on this year, what did we to the gods... but this 2023 year is just Cruel, complete neverending frustration and disappointement...

After losing the Cortina 2026 direct Ice Hockey Quota at the very end thanks absolute non-sportsmanship from :SUI , for the first time since the independence of the country we failed to qualify in Canoe Sprint, including our national flagship and eternal medal hope, 4 time out of the last 5 Olympics medalist, the K4 missing the Games for the first time since 1996... Our naturalized wrestler who last 5 years collecting European and World medals left and right failing to qualify to the games again (where he would be basically our biggest and maybe sole medal chance of the Paris 2024)... came today this sorowfull end of a streak and an era... because of weather

and now 2023...

2 most painfull penalty seconds in our history probably since the Athens 2004 delayed phantom hit of Martikán :(

Don’t know yet, but certainly SF & F.

Just checking again. Friday & Sunday’s It’s a Knockout! Races are live on the BBC Red Button Channel & obviously streaming as well.  Saturday there is football, rugby etc, so will be streaming only.  But plenty of coverage.

At least you can watch this on streaming. I don't find anything in Romania about this championship:facepalm: I see only football everyday:spank:

Don't know if this is any use, Vlad.

If the heat results were repeated here are the quota boats

:GER:GBR:BRA:UKR:ESP:AND:CZE:USA :NED:FRA:POL:ITA

The European games spot would then go to :SVK

Obviously a long way to go but just an exercise to show how it might work

As I’ve said before, the micro PPV network they use is pretty reliable & good quality once you pay up your €s.

:CZE would get the European Games spot

As with the women, there's a long way to go

Yes, there's a few who had poor first runs who'll definitely be in the running for top twelve spots, notably Jessica Fox who was way down.

    • yeah I know    I mean it wasn't a different team specific for that sport. it was the same CC team participating in both sports.
    • It is run by a different federation though
    • from what I heard , Iran has registered to participate in Alpine, CC skiing, SkiMo, Skating (they didn't mention which discipline ) and ... (this one will be surprising ) ... Curling    Curling is not a sure thing yet, the NOC has to approve it. the team is very new. I mean very very new, only few months ago they gathered few people to start the sport  you can't lose 100-0 in Curling, right ?    anyway it will be first time ever Iran participating outside of FIS disciplines. ( I didn't count Ski orienteering in 2011 which was the same as CC)   nobody cares about winter sports here. therefore finishing last won't have consequences. they can afford sending very weak teams. (which is not the case for the main Asian Games)

    • 100 days to go until the first multi-sports games of the 2025
    • 11 medals out of 15 athletes. for whatever reason  we sent an incomplete team of 16 athletes (only 1 left for tomorrow) I wish I knew why  I can guess though   the result is indeed very good in such a competitive sport but lack of talent was never our problem in taekwondo. it was always there probably much more than any other country.    but the problem is the transition to the senior team. most of previous junior world champions never even made the senior team. (the new federation is doing better in this regard though)
    • Maybe my analogy was bad. I meant a team points competition based on individual placements in each event.
    • But why? Honestly it should be about athletes.
    • I actually feel like it has the potential to be good change. The new brand identities might open up more possibilities for merchandise. I also think the ISU could create a compelling team standings competition similar to the constructors cup in F1.   Plus, it might add a degree of “apolitical-ness” to the top level international short track, during a time where that’s been a hot topic in international sports (in general).    Maybe it won’t work at all, but I’m open to seeing where the ISU go with this.
