Swimming at the Aquatics FINA World Championships 2019

this hurts...it really hurts...

only small consolation, the German is still well far away from WR time (and I'm sure Greg next year will be ready to swim below 14.30)...

Florian Wellbrock did it !! i really feel sorry for Paltrirnieri who couldn't run away and make a difference in the first 1300 m

Same is true for Wellbrock who already said a couple of months ago that it will take a world record to win gold in 2020. The difference is that Wellbrock is 3 years younger and won gold here despite being way off in the 800 free. Don't even want to imagine what he could have done in top shape.

Paltrinieri will get killed by Wellbrock and Romanchuk every time (because they have a better finish), unless he can be in clearly better shape then them. If he can translate his improvements in the 800 free to the 1500 free, then the other 2 will be in a lot of trouble.

naaaa...you don't win both the 10km open water race and the 1500m free in the pool if you're not in top shape...:finger:

I'm sure he's at his best...the 800m free was just a mistake by him, he did underestimate the level of competition and didn't have a plan B once he was strugglig with the low pace in his heat...that's it...

if he says anything different, he's just playing mind games looking at the future...

Overall still a bit disappointing world championships for Germany. With a bit of luck Germany could have won 6 medals in olympic disciplines (Men's 800/1500 free, men's 200 IM, women's 200 fly and women's 800/1500 free) + gold and bronze in open water.
