Caterina Banti & Ruggero Tita lost their first event since the 2020 Worlds (in January 2020) and they lost in style, they didn't even make the podium (they finished 4th) and got beaten by not 1, but 2 different Italian crews... focusing on the America's Cup boat definitely doesn't have a good influence on Ruggero Tita's performance on the Nacra boat. Hope he won't sacrify an (easy) Olympic back-to-back to pursue the dream of a trophy Italy will never be capable of winning. It's not that, I think I've mentioned this a few times in the past: the wind was light during all week and they are exceptionally good with stronger winds. The british said so in the winners interview after the regatta. Edited April 10, 2023 by LDOG

The british said so in the winners interview after the regatta. yes, very light wind isn't their most favourable condition, but they showed in the past 2 years they can manage also that (and in any case, it's what they should expect for the 2024 Olympic regatta in Marseille, surely there won't be the Tokyo/Enoshima breeze and waves in France). the main factor is Tita's almost total committment to the Luna Rossa's project, taking a lot of specific training time off our wonder-pair. it's like Ganna trying and get big results in road cycling (and the hour-record project last year). all those kind of efforts are heavily influencing the performance in the disciplines they've won the Olympic medals. and I'm not sure (actually, I'm sure of the opposite) they can afford this kind of "shared job". they're human, after all. Sorry if I sound like a broken record but... Gimson-Burnet: “We’ve had a whole week of our conditions. We had the one windy race at the start, but it’s generally been light air since and we worked on that quite a lot this winter, so we’re quite happy that the pace has been good. We’ll take that (winning the Palma and Hyères world cups in April)." “I think it’s still quite open (the class). We’ve had our breeze this week, but I’m sure if we’d been foiling the Italians would have been equally as strong. Last year was quite breezy (series) and we foiled in almost every regatta. This year, so far, has been quite a light airs year - every dog has its day." I was not surprised Argentina did well for the same reason. Vektor 3,196 Posted June 29, 2023 #19 Share Posted June 29, 2023 What the fuck... Mária Érdi and Jonatán Vadnai will have to skip the Olympic Test Event because of an administrative error. Apparently the payment bill didn't arrive to the Hungarian Federation and their registration to the event was unsuccessful. Jesus fucking Christ, these athletes might even be medal contenders if they perform well in the next year. How can the Hungarian federation fuck this up so much?
