0 medals for Canada, but I can't say it wasn't unexpected with the squad we sent. Don't know why our top judokas didn't compete, especially in the classes where two athletes are battling for Olympic quotas. (Reyes and El Nahas in the men's -100kg, and Deguchi and Klimkait in the women's -57kg)

I think they didn't compete because it was just a Grand Prix level event rather than a Grand Slam - they didn't compete in any Grand Prix level events during the first period except for one right at the start of the qualifying period and which ended up being a discard score for them all.

In both weight classes, the quotas are already pretty much guaranteed and both athletes are going to be on the IJF list so it will come down to Judo Canada's selection policy which, if I have read correctly, at the moment give the edge to Deguchi (4 points to 1); and Reyes (3 points to 2)

    • That is absolutely certain. Any somewhat reasonable politician should be good enough to win against someone like Trump, even with the unfortunate timing (for the Democrats) of having to carry the brunt of the COVID pandemic consequences and so any Republic having a bit of a head start anyway.   But yeah, dreadful performance overall from Harris, who seemed to start quite positively, but then just lowered herself to Trump's level in terms of throwing shit at each other. That was a terribly dumb choice, nobody is going to beat Trump at the insult game, as we have seen.

    • It was never a priority to stop the war but to prolong it to offload the old weapons systems and keep Russia occupied in a conflict. But the West's strategy backfired as it pushed Russia to friendship with China. Many don't realize as Russia and China are actually adversaries even when they shared a common ideology during the Soviet era
