Qualification System published https://www.iihf.com/en/static/5478/olympic

So it´s official :CHN got the Official host quota, meaning :SVK will have to play the qualification...not feeling this good at all..

.a group with :BLR that somehow smells like one exact definition of a trap....

For the 2022 Olympic men’s ice hockey tournament the top-8 nations of the 2019 IIHF Men’s World Ranking will be automatically qualified and together with host China and the three qualifiers be seeded according to the 2020 IIHF Men's World Ranking. The three qualifiers will be determined in four stages of the Olympic Qualification starting in the 2019/2020 season according to the schematic below.

The 2022 Olympic men’s ice hockey tournament will be played according to the same format used in PyeongChang 2018, Sochi 2014 and Vancouver 2010 with three groups of four teams each. The best four teams from an overall 12-team ranking – the group winners and the second-ranked team with the best record – will advance to the quarter-finals while the other teams will play a qualification playoff game.

Already booked my accommodation for Group J in Nottingham, I think on paper Romania are most likely to be the fourth team in that group but personally I am hoping for an outsider like Spain to make it through and appear in Nottingham.

My main hope though is that :GBR win Group J and that I could then go and watch them play in the final round of qualifying.

Great to read about the growing interest of Ice Hockey in GB.

With home advantage of GB´s passionate fans and everything around the current huge boost hockey is experiencing there I think GB may be considered as a the main fav for the qualification to the final qualifying round

Will be interesting to see, how good Kyrgyzstan is. This year at the World Championships they destroyed the UAE even without that inelegible player, that got them all the other games lost. But can they beat Luxembourg?

Group 2 should be between Taiwan and Hong Kong. Don't know if Team Hong Kong is weakend by the unrest. I just hope the tournament goes over smoothly with Taiwan and Hong Kong playing in China.

So Sanya will host a Winter Olympics qualifier, and the 2020 Asian Beach Games. Sanya is the Chinese version of Sochi apparently.
