:LAT joins the medal table. Unfortunately Akmens ran out of steam after leading 80% of that race :(

Shooting is one of those sports that's lucky it got in during the early days of the Olympics. It definitely would not be added as a new sport today.

In discussions about esports being in the Olympics I've used shooting as an example of a sport that's less physical being in the Olympics. In fact, esports and shooting have a lot of common, they are both precision sports that focus on twitch muscles. Funny enough, there is always someone that tries and argue the physicality of shooting and throws in "but tradition" for good measure.

Anyone lobbying for e-sports to be included in the Olympics should be ashamed of themselves..

Also, if you think, that standing straight for 40 minutes and keeping your body in perfect concentration and precision without flinching is less physical, then sitting on a chair and chopping the keyborad...

28 nations won medals so far

20 still remains empty-handed.

Pitty we was close to win a medal as well but our Karateka lost to ITA and UKR in the pool 1:2 and 2:3... coaches really angry especially for the video refs during the match against the Italian, no idea what happened I did not see the bout, I completely forgot about it and noticed I have the stream prepared only after I heard the screams from the video in the other tab and her bout was already over :d

I mean, both shooting and esports seem fairly nonphysical, so it doesn't matter which requires more activity. Esports will never be part of the Games, but that's only because you need a software for it to run a competition and that software (LoL, CS) is privately owned. Like how motorsports will never be at the Games, even if they are more popular than most Olympic sports. You can bet that both esports and motorsports would be at SOG if there would be some solution to include them. IOC aren't that out of touch, they see how esports is ten times more popular among Gen Z than the Olympic Games.

Shooting is just not a watchable sport and on top of that nobody cares about it. Even pentathlon has the novelty of seeing people perform well in various activities and seeing that on the screen or at the stadium. Shooting is literally just watching numbers appear on a screen.

    • For me they gave Canada the gold in the relay in exchange for a 1000-meter dsq gold for Dandjinou, that's how I see it. It was a battle between Kor and Can on 2 of this case. It's hard to say why that last dsq for Kor was in relay? Of course, Italy win bronze thanks for that, but that's not really important. It would have been better if the referees had just stayed out of the results and left it as it was decided for fight on the ice.

    • the quata for europe or australia is from the primer 12, where the top 20 teams will participate, sadly  is the 21th team so the only slight chance for us in my opinion is if: we get top 2 at the european championship (not including  hopefully if they get the quata), then somehow win the final qualification tournament against i assume  and one of    the chances for us are slim, i think about 4 other team sports  have a better chance in in my opinion(and the most team sports we ever had was one, and it was the last two time after a long time )

    • well, Cuba and Venezuela for sure...   Iran is a different question, but I hope in 2 years all this war shit is done and dusted and at least in the sports world everything is gonna be OK
    • In my opinion the Italian team has been playing above expectations since last year after several years of decline. Last year, we advanced to the first division at the European Championships and now they're playing very close matches against the strong India and Scotland. We a little miss a potential to do more – we are only 18th in the world rankings. Our men's team's performance in this sport is much weaker.
    • I wonder if all Cuba, Iran and Venezuela will be able to travel and compete in LA at all... Hopefully that yes.
    • There was some initial disappointment at first, but got over it quite quickly.    Happy for  and I hope they can win a medal in LA with their MLB players there!
