It's important to note that Brazil as of this moment has nobody with minimum requirements, and they need to have at least three of them before December 31 in order to keep this quota.

Funny thing is that nobody from Brazil has even started in any MER qualifying competition before Lima, and here only Da Silva got the required score of 66% (he needs to go over it twice). De Almeida started Grand Prix but scored below 65%. This usually wouldn't be a problem for Brazil, but for some reason (probably lack of funding) they will not host a single MER event this year. They usually organize several MER events each year, so something really must have happened for them to stop doing so in an Olympic qualification year. Their riders will now have to travel overseas to keep this quota. And since the federation may be running out of funds, I wonder how will they get there?

Which are those minimum requirements? What does Brazil need to do to keep its quota?

To fulfill the minimum requirements, riders need to score at least 66% in two different Grand Prix competitions. To keep its quota, Brazil needs three riders with minimum requirements.

Hopefully they will solve this somehow. At the very least, perhaps FEI will soften the requirements (or extend the qualification period).

Since the competition is not televised (not even for the highlights program ), here is an unofficial video of a freestyle from Toronto 2015.

Trussell finished outside of medals, but Anton's piaffe was so good that it caused gasps from the crowd. :p

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)
