Is Cross Country a ticketed event? That seems rather stupid to me if it is

Yes, so as to limit the amount of people on the trails. Tickets were $30-40 USD. I’m super excited to watch. I should get some fantastic photos as well. Cross Country (Eventing) is one of my favorite Olympic events.

One of my favourites as well, it's always very exciting. And ok, I guess 30-40 is pretty reasonable for such an event

  • 1 month later...

Have been doing a lot of planning with my Reddit Olympics associates as of late. My schedule is really starting to take shape. We’ll be in Tokyo from July 23 to August 3. We got a very nice priced Airbnb to stay in. Our flights are free thanks to flier miles. Our flight there will happen during the opening ceremony I believe, so hopefully I can catch it mid-flight. The layover in Vienna is still unplanned, mostly because our group is just freaking busy right now. I’ve decided to get ahead and post my tentative event schedule below. Black means I’m for sure going, and Red are maybe, or tickets I’d like to trade for a another sport/event.

Jul 25th 9:00 - 12:30 Handball (TOHBL01) (B)

Men's Preliminaries (2 matches)

Jul 26th 10:15 - 12:25 Basketball 3x3 (TOBK305) (B)

I’m assuming that I’m still the only Totallympian attending the games?

Obviously, I won’t be attending the Race Walk now

You are not. I am gonna spend in Japan about a month. Haven't bought flights neither Olympic tickets. As a Czech citizen I have pretty bad access to any Olympic tickets. I would like to buy any but it's getting quite difficult.

Would you please suggest me a way to purchase any Olympic tickets? Of course anything except those lotteries . Thank you!

Chech Republic is part of the EU/EEA area. This means that you,Jan,can buy tickets from a number of ATRs for example Dertour,Eventeam,Cosport and so on.

Any citizen within the stipulated area above can do the same.

I´ve bought tickets from Germany and Austria for example. It is perfectly legit.

I´ve bought 20 tickets thus far.Weight is on Track and Fields with 7 different tickets.

I am still lacking a couple of tickets.

Managed to pick a Boxing ticket up yesterday from Cosport, but still lacking a few of those.

As every man and his dog..I haven´t managed to buy tickets to Swimming and Gymnastics.I have bought other events instead, but will resell those if I manage to buy a ticket to a Sarah Sjöström gold chance or the womens teams finals in Gymnastics.

Otherwise,I´m all set to go really.

Not sure if it was the NOC or the biathlon federation (I assume the latter) that put him in the Livigno training 'world' with a former Italian biathlete as coach, but they can definitely also be blamed:  almost everyone involved in that shitshow got the motivation just sucked out of them by the methods and shitty atmosphere until they either retired or changed country

    • Lots of injuries, including often just pure bad-luck stuff like a fall from a set of stairs, illness, and of course the Sochi tragedy in 2014: one of her biathlon friends, young Julia Pieper, killed herself with a biathlon rifle early during the Olympics (she wasn't on the team, but was a training partner of both Preuss and Dahlmeier). Obviously a hard hit, which led to terrible Olympics for Preuss, with a DNF, awful results in her other individual races and a relay where she was the first runner for Germany, but fell early on, got snow in her rifle and broke a pole and ended up losing almost 3 minutes, which in turn resulted in Germany being off the podium for the first time ever.   After that came all the injuries and illness and everything. So glad to finally see her have her big individual global gold, that is so well deserved.
    • Dave Ryding's Sixth was the best from a  man since 1934!  We actually have two Women's Golds in the 1930s.
    • first win for the Italian men's relay since 2007      very good Home stage for us   if only the organizers didn't set the finals sessions at 2 p.m. (especially on Saturday), there would have been a lot more spectators on the seats
