I didn't watch the first SF but they said Elise Christie was DQ too? So even with all the rules changes that's one person that always gets DQ in the big events

yeah, she made a move that looked like a rugby tackle to gain the provisional lead of the race (which she won on the ice, but then she was more than rightly DQed)...

Do Bugaria have any meaningful skaters since Radanova retired?

Young Katrin Manoilova is not exactly top of the world, but at least she's sort of competitive (as in, not one of those one expects to be destroyed in the heats)....however, a week ago she had a hard fall on her head so she's out of the individual competitions right when the world champs are in her home city :(

    • We´ll see. anyway, I hope hope so.   It was her first career senior bout, maybe a bit too early, to be thrown in the lion´s den, but if all this will result in a medal in LA 28 I am all in

    • @hckošice, even though Tomankova lost, she had a good fight against Costa, I think soon she and Babulfath will be the stars of -48kg.
    • Yes.   The event has been cancelled due to the accident.
    • Damn...   That's Clement Noel's Red Bull event of Sunday I think?

    • Yeah, we have such a strong crop of Juniors, that we can’t take them all. They all have exciting trajectories but to predict what Junior swimmers will is always difficult. Better to let them all swim together at Juniors than rocketing them all up to seniors and swimming a prelim and going home.
    • Hanlon is the most unlucky, in my opinion. Aside from relay cover, she's the 50m champ and they made a point of including consideration for those events being in LA for the other discretionary picks. Essentially she has the same case for selection as Max Morgan (albeit without the trajectory right now).   Blocksidge's form was way off this week (compared to her previous bests). Obviously being still young you could put that down to relative inexperience. Still, she has World and European Juniors that she could still be selected for this summer. There's an argument that performing well at those might be as beneficial as going to Singapore.   That said, I'm happy that they did take a bunch of discretionary picks. That's not always been the case.
