I agree...it's a lot like modern keirin in track cycling...it's no longer the exciting sport it used to be...

 

but still, if those rules are in place, you have to play according to them...and someone is not always doing that...

 

p.s. yesterday, it was Seidel who was advanced despite being guilty of that crash...

Yeah, I meant Seidel. That was just outright stupid: crashing out someone else, falling together with that person and you get advanced while your victim gets penalized :lol: 

 

It's like you shoot someone in the legs and while doing so, the backfire hurts your hand, after which the judge sends your victim to jail and you get money for the damage to your hand :p

There are way too many DQs in short track compared to like 5-6 years ago. And it's hard to watch when the video review lasts longer than the race itself. That's why I don't follow this event on live TV. I watched two 1500 SFs, saw the Schulting BS and I turned it off.

if the judge is Italian, it's highly likely to happen...:roflmao::facepalm::wall:

in the last few years, they repeatedly changed the rules for safety reasons...

that's why nowadays almost nothing is allowed anymore..you just have to keep your line and skate as fast as you can...

Interestingly, ex-shorttrack skater Niels Kerstholt (also Dutch, he's in the TV studio) was very much agreeing with the penalty and called Schulting's defending 'incredibly stupid' :p 

 

I don't watch it live a lot anymore though, usually I watch the replays so I can skip through the eternal waits :p

as I wrote before, Schulting's mistake was actually evident and "stupid" (at least, really unnecessary)...

other calls, instead, were at least more questionable...

      awful... the track is as fast (slow) as in Hamar Meike Veen skated the same time in the 1500m and Serena Pergher did the same in the 500m I think by February it will be even faster

      I like the concept of this Festival of Music! I will also share a couple of Christmas songs from Spain's TISC Open 2024 representative David Bisbal.   The first one 'Los peces en el río' (The fish in the river) is a flamenco/pop cover of a traditional villancico originated in the 1500s and the second one 'Todo es posible en Navidad' (All is possible in Christmas) was relased last year.   Los peces en el río   Todo es posible en Navidad   I hope you like them and have a wonderful holiday season!

      you don't even have idea how it works   last week he was the best of the field and now he's in bad shape?   on Friday he was 24th despite 4 (4!!!!!) missed shots and Yesterday he suddenly went out of shape?   be serious!   he either just had bad skis or he got sick, like many other athletes (see Vittozzi)   the snow in LGB is usually shit, results are always heavily influenced by that and Italy is one of the teams that usually struggle a lot in that place   nothing new and nothing to be worried about

      Juniors were there recently and the track was awful   Although that's not necessarily bad. Tracks don't all need to be fast, a slow track (like the horribly slow one in Poland) simply favors a different style of athletes. Training a lot there doesn't really give much extra advantage though, not like in sliding sports where of course as host country you make sure your athletes know every single meter a year before the Olympics.    And to get back on topic: speed skater Elisa Dul broke her tibia and fibula in a training fall yesterday and will obviously be out of the OQT and so the Olympics.

      The PSL race in Davos was (yet another) insult to a beautiful discipline. The red course (which was actually yellow) had several holes and an exposed ice sheet, which made the athletes slide way too long, causing DNFs or massive time losses. The only positive note is that Caffont won despite racing on the more dangerous course in the final
