Men's Javelin You have to go for :CZE Zelezny...

Men's Featherweight Boxing This  may seem like an odd choice but I go for the 1908 champion :GBR Gunn. He has an astonishing story. He was so dominant in the 1890s that the English governing body asked him to retire so that other boxers could have a chance at winning things. So he retires for 12 years then, at 37 when most boxers are long past their best, he makes a comeback especially for the Olympic Games and he wins the gold quite easily

Men's Flyweight Boxing Perez of :ARG is one of the all-time greats of boxing

Men's Wrestling - Freestyle Bantamweight  Not a sport I know a lot of about but it seems :URS Beloglazov  would have been a 3 time champion if the Soviets had gone to LA

Men's Wrestling - Freestyle Bantamweight I'm not qualified to make a choice

Athletics, men's Javelin Throw...this is a no brainer, :CZE Jan Zelezny is "the" javelin made person.

Boxing, men's Flyweights...another easy choice...:CUB Robeisy Ramirez was certainly the strongest and the most entertaining fighter in this and the immediate heavier class (where he won the Olympic Gold in 2016).

Boxing, men's Featherweights...:UKR Vasyl Lomachenko...a flash in the dark...his 2008 Olympic Tournament was one of the most dominant performances I've ever seen.

Wrestling, Freestyle, men's Bantamweights...most likely he isn't the strongest Olympic Champion ever, but surely he's been one of my first truly favourite freestyle wrestlers...my pick is :IRI Alì Reza Dabir.

Wrestling, Greco-Roman, men's Bantamweights...the GOAT, the one and only :IRI Hamid Sourian.

@MHSN is Dabir the correct "western version" of his family name or is it Dabiri, like I've read many times in websites and TV graphics? :mumble:

yes that's Dabir (without "i")

Dabiri is another common Iranian surname but not for this guy.

@MHSN Please tell us who should win wrestling medals here. We know nothing about wrestling here when it compares to you

    • Thanks for the amazing work on the spreadsheet. If my eye's read correctly you expect  to get a quota in Sprint (M) canoeing . This will be historic, if time permits could you elaborate a bit please. What are the chances we get to hold on to the quota place ? Is their a risk of missing out? Thanks! I don't follow canoeing much so had a hard time simulating the qualification scenarios. Thanks!

    • Although it was a terrible Olympics for Canada, and my two favourite sports (Hockey and Short Track) really didn't work out for us, there were a couple of fun times.    -Women's Pursuit team winning gold because while it was not unexpected at all, it was still a great triumph against an amazing adversary.    -Dubreuil getting a surprise bronze in speed skating 500m.    -Really all of speed skating, Canada and otherwise.    -I really want to say Dubois getting gold in short track, but the whole thing was a mess.    -The last two ends of the men's curling gold medal game.    -Kingsbury getting gold. But it was more relief than excitement, unfortunately.    -I really like the luge relay. Canada was not involved, unfortunately, but it's always fun to watch.    -Men's freeski big air final was nuts! In all the good ways. That was truly the highest level of competition I've seen in a very long time.    -The dog crossing the finish line in cross country, which should have been the meme of the Olympics (not that...other thing).
