Another medal for Canada!

China and Malaysia were very impressive. IMO, both NKorea and GB were overmarked so I don't think it should have been that close in the end.  But it certainly made it exciting.

But no medal in Judo and our ladies doubles are out.  I don't even want Canada to win their soccer game (easier draw in the quarters if they lose).

I really dislike the seeding (or lack therof) is done in the women's soccer tournament. Canada finished third in their group in 2012 and had a similarely dificult draw to the other two teams, this time being second gives you a better draw. It's weird.

I'm sure Germany is aware of it as well, so I'm not expecting to see much push by either team in the second half.  But a tie gives Canada 2nd in the group anyway.  The way the games have worked out, that could mean any one of Sweden, Brazil or China.  Not easy, but easier than France (probably).

I made a mistake earlier.  A tie would still give the group to Canada.  But the way they're playing, maybe it doesn't matter who they face in the quarters.

    • With a week to go till the deadline for the world invitational, the rosters look beefy for the discus on both sides.24 entries for the men[19 accepted in so far] and 25 for the women[18 accepted so far] For the men so far there are three 70 meter throwers[i count Denny as that since it's just 4 centimeters off his pb]10 from mid 66 to low 69,three of 65 and over, four from almost 64 to almost 65.On the women's side the 18 accepted throwers all have a pb of over 60 meters.11 of them have  pbs over 64 plus.of the ones still not there besides Valerie and Yaime who have been marketed so i can only assume they will join, such names as  Sandra Elkasevic,Bin Feng, and jordine van klinken aren't signed up yet, jordine's probably the most likely of them to join in tough feng would be a cool surprise,i somehow don't see Sandra doing this, but it would be awesome if she did.Stahl and ceh aren't in yet on the men's side, ceh has been marketed while stahl hasn't been mentioned at all,[pretty sure stahl will not be there],Lukas[last name is too wild for me to even try] and lawrence okoye aren't there yet either but i'm betting both will be joining in.
    • What a shame. That would have been amazing.
    • It's complete American domination in the women's discus rankings so far this year, they occupy the top 4 slots, and the WORST result of those four was achieved at Ramona .Third place currently belongs to Ciera Jackson who had a huge almost 4 METER pr at the west coast relays on friday-64.42[previous best was 60.77 from march of 2023,and she opened her season a week ago with at that time her second best result ever of 60.14]she also had a 63.66 throw to back this new pb up,and finally with her new personal best she took down the school record that stood for 36 YEARS[Btw Valerie Allman actually competed in Ramona on march 30th but conditions were apparently far from ideal and she fouled four times and her best was a 63.61,i don't doubt that in the event that she competes in the  world intational, the conditions will be perfect,i wouldn't be so bold as to say she wouldl get the world record but for sure i think she could get a new personal best.
