It was just announced that Urša Bogataj has ended her season. She already was on the fence last year after the OG if she wanted to continue and decided to go until Planica 2023. So this likely means she will end her career at 27. This also doesn't bode well for our hopes of a medal in Planica. Last season we were on top, this year we will be lucky if we get one medal in the end...

Got that feeling of her season being done the second the fell, to be honest...that knee twisted weird :(

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

Not only she finished this season (which is confirmed), there are rumours, she could well end her career. :(

Bogataj suffered a torn ACL in the left knee so she had no choice but to end the season. She tore ACL in the right knee in December 2019 already. And yeah, even Polish media reported she wanted to end her career after 2022 and if World Champs weren't held in Slovenia then she wouldn't come back this season. I suppose we might have seen the last of her too which is a shame given her age.

both ACL + MCL according to Italian website OA

they're also expressing some doubts on her future after a second injury of that kind (even if in the opposite knee than the first time).

    • Its a bit off top, but Turkmenistan also was only one country in the world without official case of covid
    • In the USSR, when Stalin died, there was de-Stalinization but some of his monuments remained, although, for example, the names of cities were changed. I feel sorry for the people living in Turkmenistan or smiliar countries but what can be done? The USA could to introduce some civilized life in Afghanistan but this government was so weak that it fell a few weeks after the Americans left. It would probably be similar here.
    • I love to see more competitions but we had the highest level for 6 weights in Paris, non-Olympic events also needed a top tier competition for this year of 2024.   considering the fact that the IOC is shrinking the competition to just 16 per weight, it wouldn't that bad to have a full 10 weight competition for each style, giving the chance to everybody.   but we would see lots of big names not participating because of the Olympics (and the recovery time after that) so I think that was the best solution.    ps: if it was up to me entirely  I think 8 weights is good enough for men (6 is too less, 10 is too much) and all of them should be in the Olympics. but unfortunately it's up to King T. and his goons.
    • I’ve only seen things related to the father of this current president. And not even much of that, everything had the face of the new one now.   but of course, I saw only what I was allowed to see , that is how things work if you want to visit it :-)
    • I wonder if there are any monuments to their first leader, who died in 2006, or has the latter taken over everything?
    • now the leader is not that one, but his son (you’ll see him in one of the photos I shared, in the tv. His face is everywhere as it happens in any country with cult of the leader).   and yes the story is true, in Ashgabat only white, golden and some other colour (grey?) cars are allowed in the city. Just like every building is white.   And it’s funny you mention the talibans, because Turkmenistan has an Afghanistan representation/consulate in their country, and one of the days when we were eating lunch in a mall at Mary city, the Turkmen guide was called by the restaurant waiter and then came to us and said “ok so don’t worry, but a taliban delegation is coming here to eat lunch so don’t take pictures and behave discreetly when they enter”.   One of those wtf moments of our trip haha
    • I agree, but having 2 (in 2016) or 4 weight categories wont help the noble cause. Why UWW limited this WC to only non olympic wrestlers? Why only 4 weights?  And so on. I saw some great bouts but they were overshadowed by these facts. At least IMO.
