:SLO Anze Lanisek with his 2nd career victory - on the same Ruka hill he won last year. :ITA Giovanni Bresadola with another PB in 11th and :TUR Fatih Arda Ipcioglu in 29th and WC points.

4th place for Abigail Strate :yes This is one sport where :CAN taking 4th place should be considered a huge success.

 

It's not their best ever in women's ski jumping since Taylor Henrich had two podiums in 2015 before ;)

Strate is def the most promising talent Canadian ski jumping has produced in a while.

Yeah, she is only 21 so actually still very young. Hopefully finances won't force her to seek full-time job after the next Olympics. I imagine ski jumping is still dead last in winter sports funding in Canada. Loutitt also has a lot of promise but she's still recovering from off-season ankle injury IIRC.

    • Franchi had a similarly impressive performance at the 2023 World Championships on the same distance but later she completly missing. I hope that with Gismondi will be different, especially since she was already a great talent in her junior years. The problem in Italy is that for the past 15 years, aside from Pellegrino, there has been a miss of stability in other athletes: there are bursts of excellent form, but later they disappear. I also worry that funding for cross-country skiing will be cut after the Cortina Olympics.
